You can do SEO. But honestly, AdWords is a way better option to promote your dating site!

But anyway, aside from SEO, you can do blog/forum posting/commenting.

I used AdWords to initially populate my site, advertising is absolutely the way forward when you need to get a site off the ground.

Now I just rely on organic traffic but the hardest thing of all is keeping members regularly logging in. 99.9% of my users only log in once.

Your own site or an affiliate link? Test and play with Bing. $5 a day can get you some good traffic and if your landing page converts and you optimize you can get some good leads. Better than any solo ad.

Excellent, I`m using Bing for a while and got great results (leads and sales). I must admit that it`s hidden goldmine advertising source specially with Dating Niche.

I agree with the others that paid advertising is probably the quickest way to get the word out. You can also look for other sites, social media, forums, etc. that are targeted towards singles or may attract a single people audience. Promote when it is appropriate and when allowed and contribute to any communities you post in.

You might also consider buying ads on other dating sites. It is already niche related and most people who are on dating sites are on multiple sites hoping to get a wide enough range to find someone... (Popular ones are OK Cupid and Plenty of fish) I imagine that other one with all the surveys is expensive... (Match)

The very first step would be to inform search engines about your site. To do that, add your website URL into Google Webmasters or post the link to it on another website
You could write an article/press release and post it in relevant web blogs
next step would be to start link building. It means that you will have trusted resources referring to your website.
Make use of social media. Create a group or page on Facebook, tweet on Twitter, post and pin images on Pinterest, promote your website in your local social networks. Talk to your users.

Do not forget to create an account with Google Analytics and add your site to it. Google Analytics will help you track dynamics of the site visits, monitor page views and conversion.

There is a legit way to do this through Instagram

You don't even have to highjack tags to get eyeballs

You need to invest in quality photos though and you have to be upfront with people but you can get quite a bit of conversions due to niche segmentation.

Do you own the dating site or are you an affiliate?

Is it mainstream or adult? Regardless of mainstream or adult, which niche/demo are you targeting?

You can also try content marketing. I've seen tons of those pages and they hit low competition search terms. Pretty clever.

You have got very good answers here...

I would definitely look into paid advertising as you can scale the campaign up once you get a winning campaign.

As suggested above Bing is a goldmine if you know how to use it right!
