Is it safe to receive via personal payments when selling services?

Hey guys, Im not sure if its real that can receiving to many personal payments can limit your paypal? I mostly do graphic design services and receiving it as a personal payments. Should I stop it? Or anyone know how to correctly setup account for that? Thanks!!

    Yes, it's "real" - if you are taking payment for work through paypal, upgrade to a business acct. Full instructions on paypal site.

      For the life of me I can not understand why we have posts like this on a regular basis. People run a business but for some reason simply will not take 5 minutes to upgrade their paypal account to business. It is absolutely ridiculous.

        And somehow everyone thinks its not neccessary to register a business or pay taxes if you are doing business online. I don't know why many people think common rules and laws don't apply if you do business online.

    You better upgrade your account to Business. It will give you ease of doing business online and fees are also low for business accounts.

    Something to note. Paypal UK (i cannot say for US) is classed as a bank. If you setup your paypal as business they will report your earnings to HMRC. I learnt the hard way a few years back. But setting yourself up as a business is well worth while, you are actually better off personally if you do so!

    Maybe you can use personal accounts, but not limited to PayPal. You can use Payza or/and Payoneer.

    What's wrong with that? "Income" is taxes - and reported. Not a problem if you are running a legal business.

    No - we mean a business acct.

    You can use Payza or/and Payoneer.
    To many sellers - a site that doesn't use Paypal indicates a site in a distant country - or a seller with financial problems. If Payza/Payoneer is my only option - I won't buy from the site/seller. It does limits your options.

    The answer to the OP's question is:

    Yes, if you are taking payment through a personal acct, Paypal may limit your acct. It is very easy to upgrade to a business acct and that's what you should do.

    The OP asked a reasonable question - one that new marketers should ask before they start selling.
