Should I go for referral marketing or affiliate marketing

Hi warriors,

I am thinking of starting an amazon affiliate. But I'm also thinking about a blog were I tell people about what hosting company they should take for example to earn from the referrals I get.
Which would give me the best and/or quickest results?
I'm kinda torn on which one I should go with.

Which one do you feel most interested in? Your passion will shine through. That will make a difference. Alternatively, you could start both and test to see which works better for you. Then focus on that one.

They are the same thing - You send visitors, if they buy, you get a commission.

There is a lot of time to do both. If the hosting company pays you monthly as long as they stay hosted from the sale through your affiliate link, then that may be more profitable. Digital usually has better percentages than physical. I agree with Cynthia that if you have a passion for one, you should go with that. Even if you don't make more money, you will enjoy it more. And honestly if you are really excited about doing it you probably will have greater success

Why not do both? You can do affiliate marketing and also get referrals for other sites you are promoting. It never hurts to have eggs in more than one basket.

    Thanks guys,
I like doing both so passion doesn't matter that much. I think I'm just gonna do both and I'll found out what works better for me or what I like better.
    Thanks

Sounds like you've got a great plan stephanreek. If you find one works better for you than the other, you can always shift focus. Maybe both will end up working well for you too.

      Best of luck.

    Hi:

Try both. Amazon commisons are kind of low, but if you can get several people buying several products through your link you can do well.

Affiliate commissions are a lot higher than amazon.

    Good luck,

Try both and stick with what works the most, or if both profitable and manageable then stick with both, time permitting.

Referral or like network marketing is very powerful because you build yourself a team that goes out and makes you commissions. Key is to be able to get results for yourself first then at the same time sharing and teaching your team to do the same. You can just a couple of good marketers who are not afraid to invest because they get the returns can yield you some nice profits. Just 1 or 2...

You can promote affiliate products that are residual or monthly/yearly payments but again Id say based on the above model you want to first learn to market and sell other peoples products but in the end you want to create your own and have affiliates do all the marketing for you.

    Leverage/working smarter not harder

Truth is anything good obtaining takes hard work!

Go for both! Both paid and unpaid marketing is necessary.
Though affiliate marketing is easier as it is a paid one, referral marketing always values more. It is true that hard work results better. Building referral link is tough and increases the authority of the site. So, invest your time more into referral marketing than your money in affiliate marketing.

Which one do you like best.

When you figure this out, this is the one I would go with.

Because, trying to "force" yourself to do something simply because you think it will make you the most money is going to get old fast.

    Hope this Helps

  • Hey StephanReek,

Good question, the truth is you can really do both.

In fact, one without the other I don't really think that will work....

Think about it, the top earners always have a website, blog or use some form of social media to attract visitors and convert them into sales. The truth is every top earner has a website or a blog, they even have the 2 in 1(their blog is incorporated in their website).

Otherwise, where are you going to advertise what you are selling?

Yes, you could do facebook or twitter on their own, but my Digital Marketing coach has advised to set up a blog to position yourself as an expert online in a specific niche.

And....on your blog you can advertise products from amazon. For instance, let's say you have a blog about personal development or finance, you write or submit articles around that niche and in the sidepanel you can add HTML codes to advertise e.g books and earn the commisions. Hope that helps. Check how I set mine up Social Media Presence.

Best of luck to you .

Thought they were interchangeable . In affiliate marketing you "refer" someone to a product and if they purchase you get paid for this "referral".

No need to make it more complicated than it is

I think it depends on what your business interests are, but personally, I love selling myself as part of the product and developing a following so I love referral. However, there are tons of people making over $30k a month doing affiliate marketing so choose your poison. <3 In my opinion, whichever method you choose will be based on how much you love money and what situation you are in to hustle in your business environment. <3 I think you'll do great either one you choose! <3

For anyone that's new to this game, I personally think you should focus on one strategy and give it all you have for 4-6 months.

When new marketers dilute their effort with more than one project at a time (and many of us have done this just starting out) typically they don't give their best to any of their projects.

There will be time to diversify, to create other income streams later after you have some experience and get your first site optimized, profitable and your system running well.

For instance, you mentioned creating and selling from a blog. It's not easy to have a top tier blog that sells well at the outset. You need time to fill it with content, build your subscriber list, and get your linking and rankings moving up.

You will have time soon enough to try your other projects . . . but unlike the others who are advising you . . . I personally think you should focus on one thing just starting out and give it your full attention. Put blinders on and give every ounce of effort to establishing your first campaign before you dilute your focus on a second, a third, a fourth . . .

They're the same thing to the best of my knowledge. You're basically driving visitors to the vendor's site to earn a commission.

Or how exactly does the referral marketing you're referring to works?

In fact, I will do both if they seem similar for me. But, if potential will goes to referral because of recurring earning. For affiliate, I will do more on intermediate ticket.

First you should know difference between refferal and affiliate marketing then you should see which will be easy for you and which suits your passion after that you should select and do one of them.

Referral Marketing is like 'word of mouth' marketing. You refer other people to a product and make a commission if someone buys.

    Affiliate Marketing is very similar.

One doesn't make money faster than the other.

Your ability to make commissions will come down to your skill set in gathering a 'target' market (people who would actually take out there credit cards and buy from your links ETC).

Yes, you should do it. Make a website and build content on it. Register with Amazon affiliate. And then promote you website to get traffic. If you get much traffic you will earn a lot of money. IMO
