How Would You Handle Similar Keywords in different Niches?

Hi Everyone,

I've been researching two different niches and came across a keyword that works for both niches.I have one site up and running with a product being promoted and the second niche is currently just in research mode. I'm not sure how I should proceed, though. Should I:

A. Write two different articles using the same keyword and use those articles on their respective site?

B. Create a one page hyper focused site on that keyword and link to my second, already running, site?

C. Do something else?

I'm not sure where my greatest value lies with this situation. I apologize if this is a ridiculous question as I am fairly new to all of this.

    A. It's all about context.

Be very careful and make sure you set up the right context OR ELSE Google's Rank Brain will get you.

    • Can you explain a bit more in what you mean by "the right context"? Do you mean similarly written articles being penalized by Google?

If it were me, I would probably write one article for the most profitable niche (or the one you think would profit you most) and see how the article does.

    • They're both new niches to me so I will have to do some more analysis.

Which niche has the biggest potential profit margin?

It's OK to be in more than one niche. I'm in quite a few niches. My traffic comes and goes so some years green widgets makes good coin, other years it's blue widgets.

If the niches really are different, create relevant content for both niches, and let the titles and descriptions lead people to the right destination for them.

If I were in your shoes, I would write different articles for each site and keep them focused on selling the product on that site. It doesn't hurt to link your sites together - especially if they are selling in the same or related niches. Any "spill over" traffic you get from one site to the other will be a bonus.

Just realize, however, that it's going to take much more than the two different articles you mentioned to make decent income. You need to fill each site with great content on a regular and consistent basis. (You're trying to reach "authority" status.)

I wouldn't do this. Every site needs its own content and should be able to stand alone on its own merits. Google has let it be known throughout the past few years that it doesn't want "thin" sites - sites with just one page are a prime example. Google wants to give its users a relevant and valuable user experience and they're not going to send traffic to places that are like what you're suggesting. IMO, one page sites should never be used.

Yes, by all means. There are literally thousands of ways to drive traffic to your product or affiliate sites. Create as many incoming streams of traffic as you can. Spend some time on the forum and use the search function and you'll learn about a lot of other traffic driving methods.

    Good luck to you,

    Steve
