How should I promote my course for Udemy?

I have a tech primer course thats doing very well on Udemy BUT very well means, for the FEW people that find it (I can barely find it myself when I search on the site), they LOVE it. They love the unique way I present. Thousands have said I'm fun, engaging and I make it easy to learn. I've been getting told for years how much better my style is than other videos and even professors in college.

Problem is simple. TRAFFIC! I could have a phone that is half the thickness of an iPhone and twice as fast and much better for 50% less price than iPhone but it won't matter if nobody can find me.

I can buy books and try adwords, versus Facebook versus email marketing and see what works, but by that time home much revenue have I lost? I'd rather take the hit up front and let an expert guide me. How do I do this? I want to locate a SKILLED online marketing person who can come up with a strategy that works for my product and market.

Do I post an ad in craigslist? Do I go to advertising schools and look for some eager students? What is best way to track down a sharp person to show me the way. I have thousands of positive comments and half a million views on my free version of my course. I KNOW I have a gold mine, but I'm lost on how to get exposure. Please send your suggestions. Thanks.

Create snippets and post them on Youtube targeting LSI keywords

You can then send social signals to those videos through hashtagged tweets on Twitter

You don't to hire a marketing person when you can find plenty of sound strategies here and elsewhere in the web. If you're concerned about losing money, maybe you should try out free promotion and branding strategies first.

    1. YouTube - Post lite versions of your courses on YouTube and link to your Udemy course for the full version. I'd post multiple videos with snippets, like writeaway said, but also more meatier videos, so you attract both kind of audiences (the ones who can't watch more than 5 mins at a time and the ones who hunt out longer videos since they actually want to learn).

    2. Quora - If you're an expert in the topic you're teaching about, you should be able to establish your expertise on this site pretty fast. There are plenty of tutorials online on how to properly utilize Quora for traffic and sales. The community is filled with educated individuals, so it's a crowd with a higher income average than the ones at say, Facebook.

    3. Free coupons/steep discounts - join as many udemy groups as you can on facebook, and give out a few hundred discount coupons. You'll get buyers you can promote to for future courses, and your course now has a higher chance of ranking on Udemy's search engine. Udemy has millions of students within its platform after all.

    4. Facebook ads - If all else fails, you always have fb ads for some direct traffic and sales. Calculate your ROI. Let's say your course is $100, and you get a sale for every 50 visitors. This means you have a 2% conversion rate. If your clicks cost $1/click, you'll need to spend $50 to get a $100 sale. Is that a profit for you? If not, either increase your price or your conversion rate (tweak your sales page). Or, find ways to reduce your ad cost (viral ads, with targeting options etc).

Hope this helps. All the best!

Nice! Good suggestions! i have my weekend planned now!

As for finding strategies, that is not the issue. There are TONS, the problem is which ones are best for MY product and MY audience? I'm trying to avoid too much trial an error. I wanted somebody who already been through this and knows what works.

I myself have a lot of wonderful ideas, but I have no idea if they will work. I don't have the background to make that assessment.

Who actually buys your course? Why do they buy it?

Why should anyone that hasn't bought it do so over all the other products out there? That's your USP.

Work the answers to those questions into your marketing and go and print money.

Just remember that all the traffic you send to your course on Udemy, is sending traffic and more sales to Udemy!

Put your course on something like Teachable or self hosted and send your traffic there instead. You own the list, you can re-sell over and over again with no restrictions.

Udemy is going to sell other courses to your customers and now you are competing with other sellers for your buyers attention and money.

And if you plan to spend any money on promoting your course, keep in mind that Udemy shamelessly discounts courses to build their customer list. Based on the emails I get from Udemy, you could easily find yourself spending $10 to sell a course that, in turn, is discounted to $10. Which you have to split with Udemy.
