Is Poker affiliate business getting tougher?

I really don't make too much off affiliate commissions to actual poker sites anymore. I may not be hitting it hard enough though, and was wondering if other affiliates were experiencing a drop off as well.

I was into that niche as well and my income reduced dramatically like 2 months ago, seems it's way to competitive. Now I'm working with design niche, and so far have had good results with it.

I think it's more a case of people don't have the disposable income they used to have with the present economy.

Anyone spending online at the moment wants more than just a game to play for their money. Yes they can multiply their investment if they are good at it, but many now can't afford to take a chance and gamble.

  • I've seen a drop as well. Hopefully the US can hurry up and legalise online poker, I imagine that there will be an upturn then for people in a position to take advantage of it.

I heard there was going to be a big boom when the Chinese would begin playing? Time to work on those Kanji?

Actually, the market in the US has tanked the last 120 days due to the shut down of one of the last major 'underground' deposit methods - but outside the US, poker is growing at a fast clip.

If you have a site that was producing before this event - you might want to look at the "TapInTo" WSO ;-)

And the Chinese have been playing for quite awhile - the problem is that it is not a credit card based society, so even for the Chinese that have internet access - they must use their debit cards to play online, and the banks charge a 3% surcharge on all internet transactions - so it's a bit expensive.

Not to mention the problems of doing payouts ;-(

Correct about poker growing still. I would argue that it is STILL growing (not just online) in the USA as well, but the limited amount of sites USA citizens can play on make marketing strategies rather difficult. I constantly get offers from other poker sites that do NOT serve the USA, and I just don't see the point.

Poker -- as well as other means of online gambling will continue to grow, but like most people said in here the economy combined with legislation has really taken a bite into things recently, but working as a Aff mgr for online casinos I can tell you people are still making some great money out there.

Trust me - the market outside the US (ie, Canada and UK) are HUGE and growing everyday.
I definitely know what the numbers are as I am involved in non-US processing for the industry and have been since 1997.

If you are ignoring those non-US offers.....you are leaving a lot of money on the table.
