Splitting royalties on Kindle eBooks?

Hi,

I'm new to Internet marketing, but I've done a lot of reading and research, and I have an idea that I would like some feedback on.

Since there are lots of people with websites that cater to niches, hungry for legitimate products to promote, why not use that momentum to sell Kindle eBooks?

I'm a good writer and can write about 1,000 words an hour, so it wouldn't take too long to have an eBook ready to be published. The problem is, I don't have the marketing network established to promote my own books after they are published.

So, would it be a good idea to try joining up with blogs in specific niches for books I write? I would offer to use an amazon affiliate tracker, to keep track of whenever their promotion leads to a book sale, and then send them the extra royalties every day or so through PayPal.

Basically, I'd be okay with making say 30% on each book, giving the other 40% to the promoter.

Does this sound like it would work? Or would there not be enough of an incentive for blog owners to go through all that effort just for ~25% more commission on an amazon affiliate link to an eBook.

Thanks!

The first obstacle you'd have to overcome is getting the blog owners who agree to your plan to trust you to make the payments. If someone contacted me out of the blue with an offer like yours, I'd probably delete it without answering.

So you'd have to lay some groundwork before making your pitch.

The second obstacle would making it worth their while.

As long as you talk in percentages, it doesn't sound too bad. But let's look at some actual numbers.

If the book is priced at $2.99, the royalty is about $2.00. You'd be offering 40% of that, or about $1.20 per book. Not a lot of incentive to put a lot of time and/or effort into promotion.

If your book was a) a really good fit for my audience and b) just really good, I might review it (with affiliate link) and even possibly cross link to the review where it made sense. But I wouldn't put a lot of work into it.

    But that's just me...
