Articles Sent To Editors...

An awful lot of marketers use articles to promote their businesses, and so they should. Have you thought that if you sent articles directly to an editor at say, Entrepreneur Magazine, or Wired Magazine, or New Yorker Magazine, well you get the picture, how many clicks throughs would you get if they published just one article of yours?

Ezinearticles is not the only game in town!

    Good idea. How many such articles are submitted to Ezniearticles.com? Probably below 3%, Most of the articles are barely readable!!!

      I would think you would only need an article published in Entrepreneur Magazine to get traffic from it for a week!

    Good idea from you.

    It is always a good idea to be creative in marketing. Maybe it is time to start writing longer articles which will be more suitable for these kinds of magazines

      It's true to say some editors want the copy formatted in certain ways, and will only accept printed copy via 'snail mail' - but that's alright - just write a very interesting piece and see it get published.

      Some others with the online only version of the magazine - (which content changes far faster!) - will accept your copy via email.

      I remember a few years ago when SP2 came out for Microsofts XP software I wrote a piece called 'Microsoft Blues'. The darn thing fowled up every other ad-on you could think of from printers, scanners to digital camera software. It was not compatible with any of them! The article got published in TEN online versions of county newspapers all along the eastern seaboard of the USA and traffic came in for weeks!

    Hi Tony,

    I have been published in hundreds of national magazines, including the New York Times Magazine, Ladies Home Journal, Cosmopolitan, Psychology Today, New Age Journal, Business 2.0 and many others. In addition, I wrote a book on how to write and submit articles to magazines and newspapers that was published by HarperCollins and offered by the Book of the Month Club.

    That's just to show that I know what I'm talking about.

    Submitting completed articles to top national magazines is almost always a waste of time. Instead, you need to submit what is called a query letter, which describes the article you want to write specifically for them, how you plan to handle the topic and your qualifications to write it.

    Second and third tier publications do sometimes accept unsolicited articles, but only when they are exactly on target in length, focus and relevance to the publication's readership.

    Standards for writing style, grammar and useful content are many times higher at national magazines than at EzineArticles.com.

    If you're simply looking for clicks to your web site, you are far better off commenting on blogs at high-traffic web sites than trying to get published in a national magazine. It will take you 10-15 minutes versus a week of effort.

    (Yes, when I was freelancing full-time for magazines in the 1980s, I would spend a week on one 800-word article, for which I was paid $800.)
