Where Are These Links Coming From?

I have an E-commerce site where I sell automotive accessories. Checking recently on Google Webmaster Tools, I am informed that links to my site are showing up on hundreds of sites that have nothing to do with my product (religious sites, artists sites, law firm sites). Also, may of these links have the anchor text of things like "find discount viagra online" and "no prescription viagra". When I tried to navigate a few of these sites to find my links, I was unable to find them. Where are these links coming from? My first thought is that a competitor is out there trying to get me a penalty from Google for link spamming. Is this a common practice?

Hmm!...my first thought was that you were just using a back link service for seo purposes...however, it looks like it's most likely a hack of some sort. If your website is on wordpress I would make sure you have some kind of plugin that protects against hacks...very important...You can find such plugins here on warriorforum or other places like JVzoo or clickbank

This is a negative seo attack my friend. Just keep disavowing them in Google webmaster tools.

Yes could be someone trying to hurt your rankings (assuming you are a content marketer). If this is the case, some jealous competitor wants to hurt you and hopefully gain in the process.

I have had some characters (2) different people (users from this very same forum) build over 1,000 links trying to hurt one of my blogs.

Luckily for me...Google is well aware of this low down tactic and most likely they won't hurt your rankings.

Nowadays I don't write too many SEO blog posts in my niche but if I do and I choose wisely (my keywords) I still get top ranking on page one google.

As other posters already said, you can use disavow tool just to be safe.

I bet you if you exported these and loaded them into supa growth's bad link buster it would go nuts lol. It checks for crappy links pointing to your website. Might be helpful :-)

Do not use the DISAVOW TOOL

    Seriously

You will not be able to dig yourself out of the hole you're in using DISAVOW

Instead, DILUTE your backlinks by doing highly targeted guest posts

There are many types of outreach software you can use to dilute your backlink footprint
