How to take membership fees for membership site?

Hi folks,
I am working on a membership site, which I intend to run for Free for about a year, and then charge membership fees to one of two types of users, when the site has a lot more traffic.

I have designed the front-end and have hired someone who knows PHP to work on the functionality (back-end).

It has been built in Wordpress, but the back-end is very custom built, not just WP with some plugins.

I need the site to be able to:
1. "Most important" - Take membership fees from users automatically, either yearly or monthly.
2. Make the profile pages of users who miss payments, change to stubs with limited content (my Dev has already created these, & I can manually select this in the WP Dashboard).
3. Send auto-emails confirming successful payment.
4. Send auto-emails warning that profile has become stub, if they miss payment deadline.

Please can you tell me, what type of software or plugins do I need to be able to do this?
... I already have a Mailchimp account to help manage my users, but I don't know if this will be enough.

Thanks for reading
Toby

There are a ton of cloud based software products that take care of all the needs you are talking about and make managing a membership site easy. I could name a few but with so many choices I would recommend just doing a keyword search here on warriorforum, JVzoo ,or clickbank. The good news is you will find a lot of good options. The one I use is created by Sam Baker

Have you considered using the Woocommerce plugins?

Hi guys, thank you for replying.

@Gary Pettit, I have heard that some internet marketers use InfusionSoft, but I'm not sure if this is mainly for sales funnels rather than taking membership fees and managing member's accounts. I spoke to one of their sales people (via web chat) but they didn't give me a straight answer.

I found this site 'Capterra', with reviews on e-commerce and membership services:
Best Membership Management Software | 2017 Reviews of the Most Popular Systems
... they seem to rate Wild Apricot.

@daronch, I have checked out the WooCommerce membership system, thanks for mentioning it. I didn't know they did this, thought they only provided online shops for people selling physical products:
    https://woocommerce.com/products/woo...e-memberships/
... I also see that on the MailChimp home page they say that their service is compatible with WooCommerce.
    Have you used this yourself?

@agmccall, thanks but I really need to find a suitable system to integrate this with the mechanics of my website, so that I can manage members and take fees.

Any other suggestions welcome... Also, are there any to avoid like the plague?
