The Quickest and Easiest Way to Pick a Niche that will make you money

I see it time and time again, people tend to overthink and over complicate things, especially when picking a niche or traffic source.

Picking a niche is one of the easiest parts of making money online, yet many people tend to struggle with it (they over think it and over complicate it and make it more difficult than it needs to be).

This is a strategy I use to help pick a niche that will likely return good results, it's certainly not the only way or the "best" way (I don't believe there is any "best" way).

If you're stuck and can't think of a niche, look for one where you can legitimately help people solve a problem. In affiliate marketing, the type of offers that do well are the ones where people are looking for help (eg. diet offers - people are looking to lose weight, loan offers - people need money). While I am not saying these type of affiliate offers actually help people (maybe they do, maybe they don't), they target people who NEED help.

If you pick a niche that helps people, where people are looking for help, it will help you.

Personally I just do what I like, want, need, whatever...

I just posted in another thread about this, no matter what likes or problems a person has there's guaranteed to be thousands of other folks with the same exact likes/problems, and they all have money burning a hole in their pocket.

Example, look around your own life...

    • You like mountain bikes?
      • Guess what, 3 million other people like mountain bikes.

    • You have a small business?
      • Guess what, half the worlds employees would someday like to own their own business.

    • You know how to bake a cake?
      • Guess what, everyone likes cake. Show them how to bake a cake.

    It's not rocket surgery.

Yes! The ol' 'scratch an itch' strategy. The fastest way is to be apart of the audience you want to target and solve a problem you yourself are experiencing.

Online Promotion is obscure and starting out is even more so, but to be flourishing, you will need to choose a market market that will have a high financial value at some point.

The key is to not get frustrated along the way and completely give up on becoming an Online Promotion business owner. There are some techniques to the business and you can easily use them for you and make you a lot of cash. SEO and public internet marketing should be put on the part time for a bit. The first step and major important aspect of all is choosing the best market.

It definitely will not issue, at this point into the game that you wish a long-term income resource. Of course, a short-term cash fix should not be your main priority either.

Most popular people with a business feeling are more troubled about the income, when they are trying to choose a market market, but you should neglect this all together, if you want to achieve success.

Money websites like cash advance financial loans and attractive bank card packages do work well for the pockets, but you will never be able to defeat your rivals, because they have a small fortune to keep into their websites.

A long winded post that will do nothing but have a bunch of newbies scratching their heads. The OP and Yukon hit the nail on the head. It dose not have to be as complicated as some make it out to be. Just make sure you are targeting niches and not general markets.

        Pretty short sited, no?

I'm not talking about, (of course "fads"), ... that would be stupid. BUT, if you "study" the archives, you can find consistencies... just like studying the "trends" of the stock market... there's people making millions studying market trends, btw... same concept applied to Google Trends...

There is also a big world outside of IM / MMO and selling products.

For the past 16+ years, I have been promoting PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers.

The reason is simply because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form in order to generate conversions / $$$. Also, conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them. They have overall performed the best for me and tend to have the greatest amount of mass appeal (will be of interest to a very large general audience). So the potential to generate high volume exists and they are fairly easy to cross promote.

The bulk of the offers that I promote pay $20-$40 per lead. However, I promote offers that pay more and less. It's important to understand that how much an offer pays, is not the key determining factor in choosing which offers to run. How well an offer converts is just as important, if not more.

For example, you could have an offer that pays $9 and if it converts at 2X or more compared to a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same or possibly better. At the same time you could have an offer that pays $90 and if it converts poorly, it may not even be worth running.

Some of the verticals that I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, debt, credit, mortgage, loans, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

Bottom line, it is far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

The online lead generation is a multi-billion dollar industry. Done right it can be far more profitable than many imagine. Everyone that I know that is in the business and knows what they are doing, for the most part, does 6-7 figures. While that's a huge range, much comes to one's abilities to scale and effective build/manage the infrastructure needed to scale.

    Something to think about.

How do you get access to these offers? Is it via the usual affiliate networks (PeerFly, max bounty etc) or some other route?

The way I see it, the easiest way to pick a niche that will earn you money is by picking a niche that you are most familiar with, or a niche that you are passionate about. For example, if I love writing I will try connecting with online writers to aim for a common goal, to construct a site where we can sell our services. In a nutshell, find something you are most familiar with or love to do and research on ways to earn money from that.

What I recognize is that people are constantly looking for "tools" and "resources" that show them the best, most profitable, easiest-to-market niches on a nice little list. Of course this is utter bullshit, which is why all these eBooks giving away the "30 best niches" are ridiculous.

It comes down HOW you market the niche that you want to pursue. How you find that niche? Yukon explained it already in the second post. There are billions of people that you have access to through the internet, so it would be complete nonsense to do something you don't like or find interesting.

If you do what is "in demand" right now, you are just following thousands of competitors and you will most likely drown among them. But if you really constantly work on what YOU like, you will automatically find better ways to do certain things over time and you will automatically have an edge over many other people.

I agree with just do what your interests are. Whatever your interests are, you will find other people out there that share the same interests. And chances are you already will be pretty knowledgeable about the topic, so that saves a lot of time researching. Plus its something that you will actually enjoy talking about.

Whenever I need to know if my product will sell.. I create a facebook ad OR email my list OR (if I don't have that) create a forum thread..

And ask people what their biggest pain points are within a specific task/industry..

If you can solve that pain.. then you are guaranteed sales from the get-go..

Why? Active (people who post) users are seeing and interacting with your solution.. it's a matter of time before they make the purchase..

The truth of the matter is that Internet marketing is anything, but easy. In fact, you’re going to be working diligently throughout the entire process. With this in mind, it is pertinent to choose a niche that genuinely peaks your interest.

You’re obviously going to want to avoid boring subjects that will bore you to tear. Don’t choose a niche that is overly lame. Instead, find something that you can truthfully enjoy. If you’re a fan of video games, there may very well be a niche there!

Everything I'm "passionate" about is illegal, immoral or fattening.

With the multitude of potentially profitable niches waiting to be exploited, I can't imagine being restricted by "what I like."

I go where there is the most money to be had with the least amount of effort and investment.

    But I'm no guru.

Picking a niche is challenging because you need to come up with a unique selling point (USP). So your product has to look and be better than everyone else's.
