Using picture in picture for product reviews

So, I am in a niche that has a lot of small products that require close-up video. I am considering having the product as the main video and then a video of me small in the bottom right corner so the audience can also connect with my by seeing my face. Any thoughts as to if this is an effective technique?

I've seen this done quite a bit

If you're trying to build a brand around YOU individually, this can work.

Ultimately, it all boils down to the total value you bring to the table.

personally, if I am researching a product to buy I really do not need to see anyone's face. When I see a face in a review video I do not "connect" with that person, nor do I care about them.

    but that is just me

This usually works for tutorials and how-to videos but I don't consider it as an effective technique. You can go for video narration minus the small video of yourself at the bottom and it'll still work. You can also be in the product video yourself the way it's done in "unboxing" videos.

I like the face when I am learning from someone. If it is a tutorial/training video it can be cool to see the person. Sometimes it is a distraction from the powerpoint thing and I definitely do not care to see "who" is trying to sell me something. Just my opinion

Why not explain the product, just as how you'd normally explain a product? Then, shoot the product closer if you need to do so. That is a better way to connect to your audience.

It can work for branding yourself. You could also do a quick video of you and the product and then switch angles to just the product or go back and forth to make it a bit more interesting.
