Advertiser doesn't allow affiliate marketing in CA - What the heck?

An advertiser in my niche has disallowed affiliates from all states shown here in orange, citing their click through nexus sales tax policy.

I'm in CA. The advertiser is in NJ.

I remember years ago there was a bad situation where Amazon and other advertisers kicked out all affiliates in CA because of the new nexus law. But my understanding was the law got reversed after the idiot Democrats saw that it completely shut down interstate affiliate marketing, and Amazon let everyone back in.

The below seems to suggest that nexus doesn't apply as long as I don't specifically target CA residents.

I guess if you contact the affiliate network you will find out. Then you can post the response here for all to know

No, he isn't part of the CJ network. He just referred me to the link he must have found.

That's California for you. It's not called "The Left Coast" for nothing. California is about the most business unfriendly place you can find. That's why so many companies have relocated out of this state.

Big bump on my thread, but I'm still curious what others' experience is being in CA.

So far this is still the only merchant to deny me affiliate status for being in CA due to the nexus tax laws. Nobody else, and no networks, seem to have a problem with it.
