Allright, I'm about sick and fu**ing tired of trying to market, and falling flat on my face. So here is my question, I'm looking for a mentor to help me get going and make money. Now, I'm being realistic about this, I don't wnat to make $4 billion overnight, but I would like to make some money. If there is anyone out there that would like to take me under their wing, or knows of someone that can help me, I would really appreciate it. I am home and disabled, can not collect unemployment, and by the time my disability case comes before the judge (I'll be very old and grey at the rate this is going), I'll probably have lost my home and all. If it wasn't for the wife working, we'd be homeless. And basically, I would like to make even an extra $100 a month. Right now would help, more would be better, and I want to take some of the burden off of the wifes shoulders. Anyway, please, please, PLEASE - I am asking for help. I believe wholeheartedly in Karma, and I know if I get help, in the future, I will be willing to "Pay-It-Forward", and pass the knowledge I learn on. Well, that's about all I have to say for now.     Kevin, I saw on your profile that you are an out of work carpenter.

    How long were you a carpenter? Do you know 5 things that homeowners can do right now to increase the value of their home?

    10 would be better.

    Write a special report about how to increase the value of your home. Use your experience as a carpenter to give you credibility.

    Put up a sales page for $9.95. You can use a free Blogger blog if you need to.

    Write an article giving 3 of your tips. Submit your article and then re-write it for more submissions.

    Turn your article into a video using free Camtasia or Jing. The video can be a simple "Article Video" where you just use slides and or voice over word for word your article. Submit to all of the video directories.

    Read up on more ways to get traffic. Keep getting traffic to your sales page.

    Come on man your a chippy!! There is rakes of things you could be doing!! There is always work just gotta go and find it!

    I am/was a plasterer by trade and when times got tough you gotta think out side the box!!

    Anyway as an internet marketer you could start a chippy forum then sell tools off the back of it (ebay amazon affiliate) or you could do the report.

    Or

    maybe selling dog kennel plans or similiar I dunno bird tables put 10 designs together build one step by step with photos of you doing it ect then sell the report either via ebay or a website you could then also sell the bird table or dog kennels.

    I am just stabbing in the dark!

    Good luck and dont panic everybody needs a house and you chippys will never be out of work long!!

      Mentors are all different so you might not even find what you are looking for in a mentor.

      What I would so is start creating a product around anything you have already had success with then approach a mentor.

        Here's the question - what do you need a mentor for? Are you lacking skills to do things you want to do? Most likely a mentor is not going to tell you how to do html and make a website.

        Do you have a plan on which way or how you want to go?

        There are a MILLION things to do and offer online. Everyone here will have a different answer for you on how to best make money - especially if you have nothing to invest to get started.

        Do you want to write articles?
        Do you want to sell on ebay?
        Do you want to write an ebook on being a carpenter?
        Do you want to sell amazon product?
        Do you want to make a gazillion adsense sites?

        I could keep going. You'll need to choose a method and a niche you want to conquer. This will give you a better idea of what you are looking for.

        Pick something to actually market (other than make money online niche as you will have a tough time with it) and you'll be headed in the right direction. Be sure there is a DEMAND for what you want to sell - whether you make it yourself or it is someone elses product/services.

        THEN you can seek out free advice. It is much easier to get an answer when you know what the question really is.

    As a carpenter can you draw plans?

    I had some success with selling plans for home play ground equipment on eBay. The plans consisted of wooden swingsets, slides, see saws, etc. I found several sets of plans at a local thrift store and they sold quite well. I wish I'd made copies and sold them over and over again, but, I just sold the originals.

    What about plans for doll houses, tree houses, wooden toys etc etc?

    With your skills in construction, I would think you could build a dynamite site and product/ebook on home improvement. That's already been mentioned but it seems like a natural for you. Seems everyone who is trying to make money online does it by trying to sell make money online ebooks, but there are many better options, particularly if you have knowledge and skills in another niche.

    I have a small site in the home improvement niche and there is some decent money there. (It's not my main niche, so I really don't know the potential.) I agree with the people saying sell information. For me personally, downloadable stuff has sold better in this niche than physical products.

    And the past 30 days or so have been surprisingly good. I think it's because reports are going around that the economy's picking up and people are more willing to "risk" their money to do home and garden things. Like those things that they kept putting off while they were worried about the economy. Also, I second what George Wright said about tree house plans. There seems to be real money in kids' outdoor play equipment.

    Just another idea: what about a product that teaches women how not to get taken by unethical contractors (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.). I know I've had several single female friends lose big money because some contractor decided to way overcharge them just because they were women. One ended up suing, it was so bad (contractor "underestimated" by about 10 grand on a ceiling repair job in an ordinary flat).

    Some time ago, Willie Crawford (very reputable marketer) made a video about how to make "Really Fast Money" as he called it, but I can't find that video. Maybe someone else here who knows what I'm referring to can post a better link. You could combine Willie's suggestion with a report in your field and who knows?
