Monetizing Ideas for Top 1000 Sites?

Hey Warriors,

Need some help coming up with some ideas for monetizing a couple of websites:

I have the opportunity to work directly with 2 highly ranked niche sites. They each get around 20-50m hits per month with a high average visit duration and revisits.

The user bases are loyal and come back several times a month, mainly to view and share content.
Not allowed to divulge the niche or website names, but I would be glad to answer what I can.

So far, only display ads have been used, so there is a lot of potential.

Right now, I've got the basics, such as linking affiliate products like Amazon to match relevant posts, or creating custom branded merchandise.

Would love to hear your ideas and opportunities!

Also, hope this is the correct forum to post this.

Certainly create an email list as number one priority. Identify the demographic of this user including any needs or pains that user would welcome solutions for (preferably digital products). Ask why do they visit the site, what do they get from it. Look for common needs.

The idea is to build your sales funnel identified based on your analysis.

Create (or out-source) your sales funnel with a number with products that fulfil these needs or provide solutions to the problems you identified in your analysis. The product funnel would have a front end low cost product that would provide real value and establish some authority. You would follow these with higher value products at increasing price points.

You then test the funnel, in your case by direct ads to your squeeze page on your site offering a free incentive to do so . You seem to have enough visitors
without buying more traffic for now. You then create an email followup sequence in your auto-responder that promotes the front end product to you subscribers. As they progress to be buyers you place them on another list with another followup sequence to a higher level price point product. Etc, Etc.

Keep testing your funnel making changes as you go to maximise conversions including products, emails, squeeze pages etc. Ideally your funnel aims to increase the visitor dollar value of any subscriber entering it. ROI.

Once you know your visitor value you could try to increase your sites user base with paid advertising (PPC) at a CPC you can set knowing your visitor value and your break even point.

The main issue is with the large amount of users, and the relatively low per-user value, the cost of even setting up a list service would run into thousands per month.

The sites are mainly community based, and I'm apprehensive about setting up funnels to the users.

Not too experienced in email funnels, so maybe an example of how this could be done effectively

      Thanks
