Best Place To Host Backup Version Of Your Site For Emergencies? Amazon?

Where do you think is the best place to host a backup version of your site (or at least the best place to host backup versions of your critical sales/landing pages)?
The purpose of this is if your host goes down and you have to flip your links over to a live version of your site?
Ideally, this option should be able to scale and also not cost a ton when it's just sitting dormant most of the time (this will probably be used one or two times a year when there is a technical issue).
I would think this would be put on a sub domain of your site like sub.example.com
Is Amazon hosting the best for this? Or do you recommend something else?
