Yes. Specifically, I've heard good things about YouTube. Not made it work well as yet because I'm still recovering from years of health challenges (though I am shaking rust from my speaking skills so I'm grateful to be learning and for that reason it fits my purpose!).

Yesterday I learned details about how the tags put you in front of people. One word tags are more useful than I would have guessed so I'm going to start using them now. As are short phrases of 2 to 3 words and the title of the video (I got the title part right the rest not so much!).

Plus, words that let YouTube know what type of video it is. For example, I need to start adding words such as inspiration, inspirational, and personal growth.

You get 500 characters in all the tags combined. Guess these are basics I should have known before starting.

Bonus? Hey, it turns out that you can also go back and change your tags and YouTube will re-evaluate each re-tagged video. Oh well, my first many are extremely bad so I guess I only would want the ones in the future when I'm better at it to show up anyway!!! The re-tagging stuff means you can reposition yourself as you fine tune your business... and for me as I get my skills in place.

Some other tips I have learned about using youtube. - have your keywords as part of the file name of the video. You have to do this before it is uploaded to youtube. If you have a video up there already and it does not yet have a lot of views it may be worth removing it back to your computer and changing the name and then uploading it again.

Also when uploading a video set it as not public (I think Unlisted is what you select) and then do your tags and a detailed description. If you search on youtube for "how to rank on youtube" you will find info from people who obviously know how to rank on youtube... that is why they came up first.

Actually, there's no such thing as "free traffic". It's a myth. You pay either with your money or your time. The amount of time spent trying to generate free traffic is frequently much more valuable than the amount you would have invested to pay for the traffic and it takes waaaaayyyy longer to get it.

I prefer paid, target traffic, as I know when it's coming and I know the actual cost per visitor. As long as I break even, my list costs me nothing to build.

I was wondering how long it would take for this cliche to rise it's ugly head.

Paid for traffic takes time as well. I don't know anyone who got sales the second they posted an ad.

You have to test your headline, offer, ad placement, ad network, page they land on, time of advert etc etc etc.

My mantra of right message to the right market through the the right medium at the right moment applies and all need testing.

      Testing takes time.

Normally paid advert evangelists will say that they can get quicker results and can project sales volume.

All of this can be applied to free. I know just as well the effect a tweet will have as a ppc click ad. In fact a tweet can have quicker results. I can also project that sales volume based on tweeting.

Now I'm not against paid adverts actually I believe you should do both. The major advantage paid normally has is scalability but that takes time and money.

I fully support the idea of paying if it saves valuable time.

What I don't understand is why FB ads get called 'paid traffic'. It is not. It is a paid advert, which may or may not generate traffic, just potentially more targeted than free. It's just your info / offer put in front of people, which can be done for free or paid.

So we can't say 'free doesn't work'. We can pay to save time, and to be more targeted. A well planned free approach will likely work better than a paid for ad (for the reasons quadagon said).

Paid traffic is when i comes from an existing traffic source where it is diverted to your website. Not advocating that as it comes with it's issues.

It seems you got it right, here. I'll add, once you build a sustainable organic (I don't use the term "free") traffic source, you can't stop it. Moreover, its totally passive, no more headaches on constant a/b testing, you can focus on other important tasks at hand.

        Hi quadagon

I have to agree with you 100% and you explained it in a very good way.

I also cannot understand the argument of free not being free as opposed to paid traffic.

Everybody knows by now that free traffic methods does take time to implement, but it is still free.

You are also right when you say that implementing a paid traffic strategy also takes time so does not matter how you look at it,time will also be a part of everything you have to do.

Pintrest, Youtube and Facebook are all good traffic sources. But I would advise you master one at a time by getting recommended training. Look on W+ and JVZoo for products with high conversions, sales and low return rates. There are a number of good products on there I have used with some success. Look for feedback from other people who have used a given method in a product that demonstrates its value with real case studies that are working now

I agree with San. I have tried automated software and also these sites that "swap" views but they are mostly a waste of time but for one or two caveats, which are:

      1) If you only care about how many "visitors" are shown to have visited your page - this of course can make it appear more popular than it is, which may be good when marketing your product e.g. "our YouTube Channel has had 50,000 visitors", sounds better than 500.

      2) Using an automated website generator software or company that sends "bots" to your page can in some instances help your page rank higher. If for example, a site's algorithm takes into account the number of visitors in how high it ranks your services, such a search bot will help you rank higher and consequently attract more "real" visitors.

Other than that, it is the same old way it always has been with pretty much everything...a lot of leg-work

The easiest traffic source for me in 2017 has been banner exchanges. I have created system that allows me to get thousands of free banner impressions daily without lifting a finger.

There is no such thing as Free Traffic.... Free methods require you invest your time. That is very difficult to scale up because you only have so much time to trade for traffic.

Paid traffic is better because it can easily be scaled up.

So if you have a lot of free time and little money then start with free traffic. But as soon as you have an offer that converts, switch over to paid traffic. If every $100 you invest in paid traffic generates $200 in profits... how many $100 bills would you invest into buying traffic?

    I would say

People will Give you Many traffic sources in comments here. But You must Pick one traffic source, master it and stick with it. to learn its secrets and Get results.

If you keep Browsing many traffic sources, You end up with nothing.

If you want to use facebook, then forget about twitter and youtube for a period of time and your main focus should be Just facebook.

When it works for you then jum to an other traffic source.

People don't get results is because they don't use one source of traffic

So you got yourself a spiffy new website, right? Great. And you made all your social pages too? Fantastic. Have you sold anything on it? Why not? Because nobody knows who you are. In a world of 3 billion websites, you've managed to be the least viewed out of all of them, and you certainly don't have huge budgets for advertising. So you're going to have to strap your boots and follow me to learn how we can supplement your lack of money with unprecedented amounts of activity.

Besides the article writing, the great content, and all those Facebook invites, you're going to eventually need some backlinks. When you're first starting out, getting exposure is the most important thing, and typically, it's best to get the maximum amount of exposure to your website while spending the least amount of money.

Even if you have advertising money to spend, free traffic methods will enable you to test your idea and website without costing you anything but sweat equity. That's always a good thing, especially if you're new. But how exactly do you get it? Backlinks. Backlinks are still the fuel behind great content. Backlinks are little votes to people that say "Yes, this site was relevant to me." The problem newcomers have with backlinks is they seem so hard to get. And if that's the main way to get quality, consistent traffic, then where do we go and get them?

Actually, it isn't so hard. Forget for a second the importance or even the difference of do-follow and no-follow and focus more on who's looking at the link. Let's break the problem of obscurity up into sections, define the sections, and solve the problem. You can get links from:

    1. People you know who own popular blogs.
    2. People you "cold-call" (or email) for guest postings
    3. Doing a search for websites who welcome guest posted content (your field + "guest posting"
    4. Forum members' blog links in exchange for articles you write
    5. Classifieds
    6. Private Blog Networks

Here we have 6 categories of links we can garnish traffic from. Each is their own beast with their own purposes. You'll notice that I excluded social networking sites. One reason for this is because the content or advertisements you publish on any of these networks can easily be repurposed into Facebook posts or images for Pinterest / Twitter, etc.

You have to consider link campaigns, sometimes, like a cold call. Even if you contact them by email, you're essentially asking someone for digital real estate when publishing links to other people's websites. Creativity is king here - your ability to offer a unique piece of content while simultaneously offering a unique value proposition to your potential link partner.

Some tools such as SEO Powersuite come with a link assistant. In fact, in SEO Powersuite, that tool is literally called "Link-Assistant," and it will enable you to type a keyword into it and it will spit out all of the websites (and their owner's contact information) to you. It will organize them in relevant ways. For more info about this tool, please message me on the forum.

Of course you can also do the manual search alternative by typing in your keyword + "guest posting" and find yourself some free traffic sources that way. However, SEO Powersuite comes with a free trial if you want to really ramp up your passive marketing. And no, this isn't an advertorial to sell SEO Powersuite. Regardless, let's move on to classifieds...

Do not underestimate the power of Craigslist. It has, on a given day, a half billion users. Most of them are right here in America too. There are two ways to get traffic from Craigslist:

    1. Start discussions in the forums about your niche and engage them / coach the participants into buying questions.
    2. Post ads. Your limit is usually 6 ads per day. You can usually make at least 2 accounts by utilizing a free VPN service and second phone number (cell phone / landline combo works for me)

Even if you are just marketing a blog, this is still important. There is an entire section called "The Best of Craigslist" which is one of the most-viewed sections of the site. This tells us that people go there, at least in part, to be entertained in some way. Bloggers CAN leverage this market and I promise you FEW of them are. Below is a non-exhaustive but very effective list of free traffic sources from Classified-type sites:

    1. backpage
    2. ebayclassifieds
    3. classifiedsforfree
    4. usfreeads
    5. legoo
    6. ads.comrite
    7. freeadlists
    8. tuffclassified
    9. adpost
    10.classifieds4free

Your next easy way of getting high quality traffic is also backlinks from educational authorities. You may have heard that educational institutions have a higher value to Google as far as trust and you'd be correct. Before I publish a list of .edu sites for you, I should tell you first how to leverage them. Here's the trick: you have to contact the schools and offer your content, software, or videos (whatever content gets you the link!) and pitch it as a "student resource." Ask for it to be published into student dashboards.

You can, alternatively, give them your content and just be sure to also include a piece of branding such as your logo (traffic is traffic, not always a link). Give your resource to them and ask for a link in return. They will be more than happy to do this. You'll need to contact the school's IT department to accomplish this and they will likely direct you to the one who will give it the "ok" if they aren't that team - but usually they are. Your links should link back to a content site you own such as a blog, and that blog should link to your money site. You don't have to do it this way, but I suggest it because you're offering student resources - for students, who may or may not be too broke to buy what you're selling. So best bet is using them for the traffic potential. You can find them by searching a list of schools and universities in your area. Here's 10 to start, along with their Alexa rank:

    1.
    mit.edu

    2.
    stanford.edu

    3.
    harvard.edu

    4.
    berkeley.edu

    5.
    phoenix.edu

    6.
    psu.edu

    7.
    cornell.edu

    8.
    utexas.edu

    9.
    umich.edu

    10.
    uchicago.edu

As you can tell, article publishing and link-acquisition are still the roots of any SEO campaign. That isn't likely to change fundamentally anytime soon. The only real difference you'll notice in the times to come is the method of how they will be implemented. Let's move onto another source of free traffic potential. There has been some debate in the SEO community about whether or not posting to directories is beneficial for you or not. I'm not here to debate that. This isn't really an article about SEO, it is one about traffic. And the fact is that some directories still get traffic. They may come from an older community and your traffic might be from people looking for alternative options that they might not find in a Google search. That's okay because traffic is traffic.

    1. highrankdirectory
    2. sitepromotiondirectory
    3. abc-directory
    4. ecesummit
    5. digitalfree
    6. x89
    7. multiele
    8. multiele
    9. dmoz

A degree of omnipresence is required here. Sometimes traffic can come from your logo or slogan. Consistency is the key here. When you make your profiles or accounts to forums, you use the same logo for each, and place your slogan as text in the image (or website). There is never a such thing as "too much" on the internet because most of the time the space is so vast that you're likely a long way from doing barely enough most of the time - at least this is the mindset you should adopt.

Depends what you are promoting. 1 Billion Youtube users can't be wrong... I like anywhere I can converse, like facebook or Twitter. That is where I have gotten the best results. Youtube is passive though. Pinterest is also passive, after pinning, your items stay up forever, unlike feeds where they drift away. You have to find what works best for you and your business model

I've always found YouTube works well.
These days Facebook groups bring targeted traffic, although it can be tedious to post in them, especially if you have many, I have also found Facebook Events and SEO has worked wonders.

The best free traffic is writing quality content. If you write content for your website, that provides more value than other websites content on the same topic, you will rank high, and get free organic traffic.

    It's as simple as that.

Free traffic means Traffic that you do not pay money for

YouTube Facebook Twitter Pinterest google plus Tumblr Reddit blogger and wordpress.org all are good sources of free traffic.

Problem is lots of people are also using that which means heavy competition

So naturally Your content must be interesting and you must post often. WordPress has an option to link your social sites so whenever you publish a post it will get published on all the social accounts

You dont have to be the best or top to get traffic , but if your content is good with lots of pics videos interesting stuff then yes you will get tons of traffic

    Depends on the niche

The easiest traffic method as far as I'm concerned is getting free organic traffic to your website. It doesn't cost a penny. Just create quality content and readers will be trooping in droves to your website. All these paid traffic deals are scams.

If you have quality content on your website you will attract free organic visitors. However, creating quality content that visitors want to read will take time and effort. This is where you "pay" for your visitors. It is in the form of sweat equity.

To me, email marketing is always the best "free" mechanism upon which to control your own traffic.

A lot of people will argue and say "But dude, email marketing isn't free!", to which I would contend, sure it is; there are so many email autoresponders out there that are free these days.

So, if you're going to invest your time focusing on free traffic; there's nothing wrong with that. But, why not use that time and effort so you can build your email list?

    The best free traffic?
Only google can send that much huge traffic, provided we perform SEO and content very well.
Facebook and youtube may bring a reasonable traffic too.

    Joey Babbs,

First of all there is no such thing as easy free traffic. They are all going to take work and consistent effort on your part. I would say pick one: Facebook, Instagram or YouTube (the 3 best) and focus on it until you can get 50-100 consistent leads per day.

Social media leads are some of the best leads out there, just keep in mind it may take you months to get them to produce consistent leads.
