Travel + Food Niche Blog

Hi, i am just starting in doing a blog that is about travelling and food.

So it will be kinda divided with places of interest such as attractions + best places in that area to eat.

I have read some articles and it says that it is better to focus on certain countries or continents only for a travel blog. For example a blog only about travelling in asia.

But i wanna blog about all my experience travelling experience and dont want to limit it to only such as asia because that means i have lesser places to blog about.

Also as a muslim i think there is a market in which i can help list out halal eating places in the places that i have visited. Will that be a good market ?

Also to make money , i will put google adsense in my site and also thinking of affiliate marketing, maybe promoting some products.

Any advise ?

Food and travel are both very popular and saturated topics, however, the advice you have received about focus on Halal, locations etc. is good.

The fact a topic is already saturated shouldn't be the deciding factor for you though, it just means more categories on your blog. It really depends on where your passion is - what do you want to write the most about?

A blog that is niche on location and muslim food may be easier to built up than a broader blog, as there are already so many of those.

    It's totally up to you.
Weigh up the pros and cons.

Travel blogs aren't so rare as they used to be. I mean, it's great when you go for a niche, which you're passionate about but it has to have a unique ingredient to it. I'm not saying you shouldn't pursue going into the travel niche, I'm saying you should inject something that other people would find interesting.

You might go for a travel blog that gives people ideas on what's the lowest budget that can be spent while getting to experience fun stuff during your trip.

    The halal idea seems promising.

A travel blog with the unique focus on 'halal food' and location looks like a good idea but be aware it like most ideas has been done before. But their are lots of place to go and eat Halal food. See this blog for example...

If your passionate about it, then by all means go ahead but do your research.

    hope this helps

@imza86: If it's not too much to ask, can we get a link to your site once it's up and running? I feel like you're on to something and it's a wonderful feeling seeing other people succeed!

Before starting an online biz around a particular niche it's best to do a search to find out how much interest there is in that particular niche. A good place to start is doing a search on Google Trends. I took the liberty in doing a search for you. Here's what I found. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

You can also enter other related topics and see how they compare to your chosen niche. Once you know that there's a demand in your chosen niche you can create a blog around it using non-competitive keywords. You can sell affiliate products on your blog but make sure that these are related to your niche. You do not want to confuse your audience by promoting products that are not of any interest to them. The only exception is if you're running adsense. You can find products related to food and travel on affiliate sites like Clickbank. It's free to open an account.

Also keep in mind that any site that relies on SEO traffic may take a long time to get traffic and monetize. This is because it takes a while for the google spiderbots to find your site, check it for unique content and index it to rank in the search engines. Adding Youtube videos to your blog will help. Google love YT! The reason is that Google owns YT so if you have a video there that links to your blog and use the right keywords you should have no problem ranking. Hope that helps.

    Hi there,

You don't have to limit yourself to particular countries alone. As long as you can travel it, blog it!

Also, this is a great opportunity for you to promote halal restaurants in the places you've been to. I think there's a need for that kind of info.

    Good luck!

Build the blog with the aim of selling an e-book about your experiences, sounds interesting.
