Creating a new Forum

Hi guys,

Do you think creating a new forum today in this day and age is a good idea ? Im trying to decide whether to start or not. Please share your thoughts, thanks.

    My thought about creating a new Forum is:

    1. Try to focus on a niche.
    2. Bring unique features to your forums that your visitors won't find anywhere else.
    3. Before starting your forum make sure you have an established user base.

    When you first build a forum, your first job is content content content. Get lots of threads up, make sure they're ones that leave room for people to respond, tweet the link, FB the link, ask your friends to join and post.

      I have to agree with San Kumar on this one, especially where he says to have an established user base before starting a forum. That's the most important part imo. Good luck.

    Do you perceive a forum to be somehow better than a Facebook group?

    I have been contemplating this for a good while. I still don't know if I really want the responsibility of managing a forum though.

    A forum in the work at home niche? YA, not a good idea. Total waste of time in my view.

    One other famous work at home forum that I was a long time member of just shut down their whole website.

    They were probably not making any money with it even though they had lots of pages/content created over the years from members posting thread and replies.
