Internet Traffic Can And Will SHUT You Down

Famous Adwords GURU's Google account disabled and deleted after years of using them to generate a very nice income online. It happens to people all the time.

Work at home forum that I used for years and was one of the top members there.....Just went offline and got deleted. I used them in the past and had slow but consistent traffic from my signature there. Gone overnight.

Solo ad vendor that I used multiple times 3 years ago to get leads and SALES.........went out of business.

Youtube video that I had and got 5-10-20 people clicking on my link DAILY, got deleted by YouTube for some unknown reason ( This was also about 2-3 years ago).

You get the picture, right?

That's why as a marketer, you always want to have multiple streams of internet traffic coming to your website or affiliate link.

When you have a few places getting you traffic, if one goes out of business you still have others working for you and getting you business.

So never rely one one traffic source. Have a few of them running for you.

Good reminders! Thanks! Always good to diversify traffic methods and monetization models. And, good to own as many of the internet properties you use as possible to help stabilize your business.

This is why I think e-mail marketing is the safest business model. You can lose a lot of other sources unexpectedly, but you can never lose your e-mail list.

The only thing you have to do is backup your list, if you don't keep a backup on your storage one of the autoresponders might shut your account down too.

While that might be true, like you said, at least you have the option of backing up your list.

That way you can just create a new account and import your backup and never miss a beat

Really good information. But if you offer enough value, you'll stay long in business.

Investing too much in one traffic source is never the best thing for your online business.

This is why it's always a good idea to build an email list. Having an email list is a valuable asset to have for your online business. If you take the time to build a list and treat them right you can have traffic on demand to any of your offers.

As the OP said always be thinking about multiple ways to get traffic to your website so when one goes down your business will not be destroyed.

This is why I cringe every time I see someone with everything invested in a single business or product they don't control. I see it a lot with MLMs.

Another good reason to diversify. I've been there and been burned bad in the past, learned my lesson!

At the same time, for those just starting out, don't try to over-diversify too early, build yourself up first.

Wise to diversify. I would suggest several places, Do all the social media (ramp up don't try to learn each in one day). I would suggest using multiple solo ad sellers so your traffic is diversified. And it makes sense to master different things like Webinars, Wso stuff, launching products, affiliate marketing, email marketing, video marketing, blogging etc etc etc. Never wise to put all your eggs inn one basket, especially if you don't control that basket

I mean this is really something which is now a days on the tips of all target customers. Internet traffic makes one more involved as per the physcology of attractions towards more things that attack visulaisation and make marketing a great chore for all business forems in this internet system.

As a rule I think you should be looking for one or two new sources each month, with the right tracking in place you may find that the new ones decimate the traffic you are getting from the old stale ones, and decide to drop them in favour of the new ones anyway.

Yeah, I got the famous Adsense ban a few years ago, almost certainly through no fault of my own (was making decent-quality sites, not engaging in ANY sort of fraud), it was a big blow, but fortunately it was the only iron I had in the fire. Had various other products etc. which could not really be affected by Google's whims in any way.

Still would be nice to have that $1000-$2000 a month again, that goes a LONG way in my part of the world, guess untold riches were not to be my path in life .

Yep, so true and this general notion transcends Life itselfl.

Going along in life beautiful Spouse, car, home. Then as you get older your beautiful spouse unexpectedly dies and your house and car go.

That's one reason why for me I always said make sure you are Happy with yourself on the "inside" because all that other stuff is fleeting and can be taking away in a snap.

I always thought it extremely concerning when a person says to another person " I can't live Life without him ".

    Weird mindset.

But this goes back to the notion to not put all your eggs in one basket or in this case do not put your "happiness" in one basket. Diversify

    Hey talfighel

You hit the nail on the head with that statement. I have worked hard on SEO strategies to rank sites on page 1 only for Google to make a change to their algorithm and I disappeared off the face of the internet.

I've had Facebook and Youtube accounts shut down at the drop of a hat.

Any other website you use as a traffic source has the potential to shut you down overnight without warning, so for me the best source of traffic will always be my email list.

The biggest mistake I made online is not building an email list from day one and that would be my advice to anyone starting out.

Build your mailing list from DAY ONE.

Even if every other source closed their doors on you, your email list is a traffic source YOU control.

Having said that I frequently export my email list and back up in at least 3 places. Just in case.

    I'm not taking any chances

Yes good tips - for this reason I maintain two hosting accounts.

Biggest black swan of my MMO career was getting permanently banned from PayPal. That sucked as it wasn't something I had ever anticipated!

I have had many other problems - here are some and how I fixed them:

AdSense warning - remonetised site with other ads.
GoDaddy hosting never reliably sending emails - subscribed to transactional email sending service.
AdSense hackers - had to take AdSense off a load of sites this year.
Scammers - wrote algorithms to detect them.
Hostgator account overloaded - more spammers on my phpBB
