Missing In Action..... So What's Changed!

This is my first post in the Warrior Forum for quite a few years. So I went MIA and focused on kids, dogs and everything else NOT relating to IM.

Last night I started thinking about all the old IM stuff and wondered what it's all up to these days. Back in the day I did mostly PLR work - writing limited PLR articles and also some unique content writing. So I guess I'm wondering if PLR is still something people buy or has it become obsolete.

Content is obviously something that will always be needed..... so is there still a viable business model in writing PLR content? Are there any content writers here that can fill me in on how you are doing these days?

And just out of interest, has much changed in the internet marketing world over the last 6 or 7 years?

    Same here, been out of the loop for a few years. I notice what has changed is that this forum has really gone downhill. The forums are full of low-quality spam threads/comments (go see the SEO subforum in particular), and even the discussions that seem to be legit appear to be about IM techniques that haven't been effective in YEARS. There are still people obviously reading the same old recycled WSOs about making niche sites, spamming blogs with comments and whatnot, hard to believe...

    I don't know about PLR nowadays, but I can say that the basic premise (which most people still seem to refuse to grasp), that if you create quality products and build a base of buying customers you can still make money online, is still very much valid. But it seems people are still looking for that elusive "trick" to making money online overnight - so I guess nothing has changed actually.

    The forum is under new ownership with a strong focus on making money. As has been said, it's on a slide downwards and lots of the more experienced members have heft for other pastures. That's it in a nutshell.

    A lot has changed. Nothing has changed.

    There are still a load of guru scammers around - "buy my ebook that shows how to make $1m a week using just your smartphone from the beach 1 hour a day". - but many are now fed up and wise to this continuous and obvious BS

    Written content is even more important than before - but not the BS from before, real content of high quality.

    Video content has grown significantly, to the point where many genuine online business turn toward it first.

    Ecommerce has grown enormously - quite a number of folk have build genuine long-term businesses using amazon and other ecommerce platforms (myself amongst them)

    ... and much much more has changed (and not)... no doubt other contributors will fill in..

    Thanks guys! What a shame the forum has gone downhill, was always one of the best!

    Well time to do some research and decide whether to go down this path again. It's a pity there is so much BS stuff to sift through first before getting to anything helpful

      There's another way to look at it Sheryl . . .

      Many new online markets and niches have exploded over the past 6 or 7 years and the opportunities to make money in a topic you love have never been better.

      Additionally, the public is more at ease with spending money online today than they have ever been and there are many more buyers online than there were 6 or 7 years ago.

      The quality sites with great valuable content are rising to the top faster than ever and it is becoming increasingly more easy to dismiss those marketers and businesses that have nothing of value to offer their audiences.

      Personally, I believe the opportunity and timing for you to enter business online again is better today than it has ever been. But you must separate yourself from the competition by being customer-centric for it is your prospects and audience that wield all the buying power. They hold your business future in their hands so you have to earn their trust.

    The PLR stuff is still very viable as long as it is quality stuff. Not just people passing around PLR, MRR and trying to hawk it as their own over and over again without any editing or adding their own uniqueness to it !

    Good to see you back

    I have several friends who are still doing well selling PLR. There are several Facebook groups you can join that discuss current issues in the business and we also send each other referrals if we know of someone looking for a particular topic.

    Hi Sheryl - long time, no post.

    A lot of the oldies here are gone - some of us hang in here but I think it's often for entertainment. The demographic here is totally different...not saying good or bad...just different.

    There's plenty of writing work for an experienced EFL writer. I haven't written or purchased PLR for 4-5 years so have no idea how that market is. My guess is high quality PLR with limited distribution...still sells well.

    There is a demand for good quality PLR as the leader boards on places like jvzoo show.

    In terms of how things have changed over the past few years in the world of internet marketing regarding content writing, there is now much more of a demand for quality.

    Where as keyword stuffed articles used to be all the rage, many marketers now realize that content which is classed as being of authority is now required.

    Good writers can now command higher fees as well as well as providing content which has a much higher word count.

    Sheryl, I think there is still a market for PLR, but it's not the same market you knew before.

    As I recall, one of the major markets for PLR was people who wanted to build content sites for Adsense, or to use for article directories to send leads to Clickbank offers and such.

    Those markets are pretty well dried up.

    One market that seems to be booming, and might be right down your alley, is creating content for offline businesses to use in autoresponder series, email newsletters, and the like.

    I know AWAI has been promoting courses purporting to teach this market.
