    Not bad for the very first site. Just a little suggestion - It would be good if you change the body text alignment to right, or justify. The centre alignment looks unprofessional.

    There's a lot of white space - white space doesn't earn you anything or tell your viewers anything so re-configure your central area,
    You could further monetize your blog with some widgets in the left column. Place a CB or a PayDotCom widget(you're already using Mike's Resource Report ad) or any banner say 160x160 from others you're affiliate for.

    I would make sure the opt in box is above the fold. (Make it so you don't have to scroll down to opt in. It is just one of those things that is an extra step for the prospect that can be avoided. I would also put an arrow pointing to the opt in box. This will make people focused on opting in.
