Looking for 10 Noobs to help each other

I'm a newbie here with a business (traditional) background, some ideas, but not a lot of traffic or "authority." I'm looking for around 10 fairly new internet marketers to form a support group of sorts, using social media, brainstorming, and collaboration to build our respective businesses.

If you are interested, PM me. Or reply to this thread.

    Interesting idea.

You might want to pre qualify people before making it a certain 10 people.

Hi Mark, Yeah, you're probably right about that. I threw out a number that I thought would be easy to manage. Thanks for the tip.

    Bill,

You may also want to take a look and see if there are members in your area already holding a Mastermind or Event. While some of the warriors may not be newbies that you could meet they are sure to get your mind going and help out as best they can. Check out the warrior section here: Local Meetings, Mastermind Groups, And Forum Events

That sounds very similar to what I am trying to establish. It would be a community but would go a little bit farther. I am looking to form more of an alliance or a project of sorts. You mentioned collaboration. That is more of my emphasis. I am looking to actually accomplish something rather than just trade ideas and encouragement. That would be welcome of course but I do want to go far beyond chats and comments.

        Hi Kevin,

Absolutely! Hopefully, as a team or group we can achieve more than just by ourselves. I was thinking of using social networking like digg, stumble, facebook, and twitter, to name a few, to spread our message, sell our wares, and get more visibility. Looking for the viral aspect, too.

If you want, PM me to request an invitation. The beginning stages will be about brainstorming ideas, but I have a few things to propose right away.

Just putting out the feelers to see if any fellow WF members find any value in this approach.

          I just pmed you.

I have been working on a project that would combine an interactive community with joint venturing, coaching and mentoring classes and co-operative advertising that would be mutually beneficial and customizable for all participants involved. The group would start off with small numbers but have the potential to grow virally and exponentially.

Starting off small would of course mean that there would not be any immediate financial gain for individual participants. Cooperative advertising would mean group marketing and group promotional efforts shared by each participant. This would be a core group forming the foundation for a bustling thriving interactive marketing alliance on a project by project basis.

The most important factor not to be overlooked would be the general attitude, work ethic and integrity of the members. In any group there is always the potential for at least a small amount of minor friction from time to time and members that either quit, run into problems or don't pull their own weight. It's also good to balance some real world experience against so many new people getting together who may be totally unfamiliar with how to daily manage and operate a small business successfully offline or online.

The idea is great and has the potential to be hugely successful. But it will need the right core leadership, foundation and positive community atmosphere to really help the people who are really ready to finally succeed. I guess that's a bit of common sense that can apply to any venture but, like the saying goes, 'sometimes common sense isn't so common'.

Sounds like a good idea Billspaced, I have been in business for 44 years in Atlanta. I have been a leader in several marketing companies, all offline. I just started my first website, so I am an internet newbie. My only challenge has been all the technical stuff. My opinion is that marketing is marketing, and the Internet is just another delivery system. It just happens to be the most efficient and cost effective ways to market. I can send out 10,000 emails on my autoresponder at no cost. To mail to those 10,000 would cost nearly $6,000 to $8,000. So I am on line permanently now. As I said I am an online newbie, but I have a ton of experience to offer to any Mastermind Group that you set up. I will follow this thread, and stay current with your progress. Let me know if I can contribute anything.

I've set up a "Social Group" called SWAP. If you want to join, please do so. I'll be adding content there in the next day or so. Think "assignments." I'm open to suggestions.

The general introductory thrust will be to link to one another (can do one-, two-, and 3-way links), use social networks like digg, Facebook, MySpace, twitter, reddit, etc. to promote blog posts, products, etc.

Might eventually do campaign sharing in aweber (somebody have expertise there?). Idea is to help each other get traffic, backlinks, and gain authority.

It looks like I cannot successfully invite anybody to SWAP who is not already a War Room member...can somebody try joining the group who is NOT a War Room Member?

If this turns out to be the case, we'll have to regroup. Maybe use Yahoo Groups as an option? Last thing I want to do is maintain two groups!

I tried to join and I don't think it worked. If social media will be a major promotional tool then I think a Facebook group would be easier to access and might knock out two birds with one stone. It would serve as a meeting point for a community and a promotional tool within itself at the same time.

Just an idea to think about.

Okay, I took one of the suggestions above and created a Facebook group, which is where I will post all of the group information (posts, discussion group, assignments, events, etc.).

I figured since a lot of what we'll be doing is social networking-related, why not use the capabilities of the most popular social app there is?

If you don't want to sign up for Facebook, I apologize. You can always PM me here at WF and I'll try to keep you up to date. Perhaps I can post an RSS feed to one of my blogs with all of the FB material in there. Not sure yet.

So go to the Facebook group and request to join. Leave me your WF name and you'll get a leg up on membership acceptance.

Would love to join the group as well. PMing you shortly.

With respect to my academic background, I am a semester shy of obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Music Business and a minor in business communication.

I am fairly new to internet marketing and am looking to learn and absorb as much information as I can so that I can be a successful marketer.

        Cheers,
