Advertiser Approval

I am in process of creating a product comparison website for the clothing industry. How hard is it to get approved by merchants like Macy's Nordstrom, Saksoff5th etc. for their affiliate program? I need to apply to at least 50 merchants like these. Some people are saying it's next to impossible to join unless the website has a lot of traffic. Please advise.

    A quick search found this on the Nordstrom site:

    Nordstrom, Inc., works with a limited number of high-quality sites. We reserve the right to refuse any site that does not meet our quality and content standards.
    I expect that is true for most high end department store chains.

    Best way to find out is to build the site - get some traffic coming to it - and then start applying to the various stores/chains.
