I can come up with all sorts of excuses to put things off and even though I sometimes joke about it, the joke is really on me.
Or should I say, the joke was on me because I came across a technique which has made a big difference to me and what's more, you don't have to pay anything to learn how to do it.
Welcome to the Pomodoro Technique.
It's a technique which is very easy to use and if you actually commit to it for a couple of weeks as opposed to one day, you will see a noticeable difference in the amount of work you can get through.
First pick a task you would like to complete.
Then, set a timer for 25 minutes and commit to working on that task for the full 25 minutes. No checking emails or Facebook, just concentrate on that task.
When the alarm goes to signify the end of 25 minutes, take a five minute break
Then, start another 25 minutes of uninterrupted work.
At the end of 4 of these Pomodoro's you will have completed 100 minutes of solid work and I have no doubt you will be surprised by the amount of work you have completed.
I aim for two lots of 100 minutes per day and it wouldn't be an exageration to say that it is life changing.
If you google 'free Pomodoro Technique timer' you will see various options but it doesn't need to be complicated.
Give it a go and see what you think.
You can thank me later
