New site name, can't decide?

Need some help here as I can't decide on a new name for an existing site. I am wanting to rebrand and relaunch. I already have a captive audience but will want to grow with the new brand. Tech being so popular, it's been a battle trying to find half decent available names. I've got a bunch and now can't decide which one:
  • Binaryly
  • I Dream of Tech
  • Read About Tech
  • Simplify Geek
  • Tech a Look At
  • Tech Dreaming
  • Tech I Want

None of the options above you mentioned is good. Today you don't have to choose the site name based on keyword. So, just make it simple and memorable. Something like twoo, tumblr, etc. Good luck!

Either make your name short and catchy as advised by Superowid or make your name describe exactly what's on offer, so it does exactly what's on the tin, such as The tech site, all things tech, latest tech offers or whatever it is you are doing.

Thanks guys and kind of what I was thinking and why I am leaning towards the first one. Although it is a bit of a tongue twister lol

Are you asking about a "name" or a "domain name"?

Surely you wouldn't change the domain name of a site that already has an audience, would you? What is the purpose of 'rebrand and relaunch'? Every option sounds contrived to me. Do you need to 'rebrand' the entire site or could you add a new product/focus to enhance the brand you have now?

    Hey there nogi!

I'd like to offer a personal opinion if I may be so bold. I think you're doing the same thing that I used to do when I was looking for niches to fill. I would consistently put up barriers and obstacles. "Drat, I don't have the right name. If only I had the perfect domain for my tech blog." With this in mind, I sometimes felt better if i had some outside influence decide for me. so I'm going to share with you what I do when I'm stuck on a decision that doesn't necessarily matter in the long run.

I took your list of names and ran them through random.org's randomiser. Here are the results given to me in list order based on what you wrote:
    1. Tech a Look At
    2. Tech Dreaming
    3. Binaryly
    4. Read about Tech
    5. Tech I want
    6. Simplify Geek
    7. I dream of Tech

Now, I'm not suggesting that you gamble in this way if you don't want to, I gave it a little bit of thought during this process too. I personally think that the "Tech I Want" brand could be quite strong, as it has a very simple but powerful call to action natively embedded in the title. I WANT to let you know that there is an obvious answer to your question staring you right in the face.

Also, content is definitely still king. You should make sure that you engage the customer with fun and exciting content that tells them what they want to know as efficiently as possible. Hope this helps you! Let me know if you need advice!

Firstly, thank you all for taking the time to respond, it's appreciated and given me some more food for thought.

I'll take a moment and respond to the "why" when I already have an audience. I started the blog as a hobby and didn't really put much thought into things such as branding or site appeal. Now that I am starting to spend more time and energy on the site, I am ready to start focusing on mailing lists, improving quality of the content etc...

Whilst I have a captive audience, it's still very small and before I embark on growing that, I feel that now is the opportunity to rename/rebrand - before I grow the reader base. If I already had a massive following, there would be no way I would consider a rename.

My current traffic flow is via specific content pages (found via google) and not my site landing page so right now, the current name isn't doing much. I can easily do a rename without breaking external page links with the appropriate redirection code on the server. I did something recently with a forum without losing my google page 1 results on the content.

Once I've digested all the feedback here, if I don't rename, then I think I will still at the very least do a rebrand (new logo, site theme, mission statement etc...).

    Thanks again.

That would be my choice rather than changing a domain but - up to you.
