What does a client pay to "reserve" you for a month?

For those of you who do online consulting work - especially marketing consulting - would you mind sharing what you'd charge your clients for a monthly retainer?

Also- do you normally negotiate a % bonus based on results in addition to your retainer?

I'm revamping my business systems - I price myself too cheap & I'm ready to take my business to the next level & would love to hear some feedback from other Warriors who aren't afraid to share what they charge - or charged- when they were about 1-2 years into the "game".

Thanks!

    Hi Rachel,
You will first need to identify your market and what "status" you are going to carry yourself at.

Are you looking at mom and pop shops or big corporations?
There is a large difference in what you charge the two entities though the work involved may be very similar.
You go into a corporation and try and sell something for $500 that mom and pop just bought, yet the corporation funded $25,000 for, then you will look a fool...

Envision yourself first, then your value.

    Know what I mean?

Sometimes you (or someone you can trust) can pose as a prospective client of a competitor and get a rough idea of their charges.

Also, many consunltants have their own website and might obtain some info you can use.
