Can anyone recommend ...

1) a good tutorial on how to create Google Hangouts with SplitCam?

&/or

2) another good (preferably no cost/low cost) software tool for creating GHs (+ a tutorial for using it)?

Thanks,
Richard

I was using hangouts with both easywebinarplugin and webinarjam with multiple cameras by having differentt webcams plugged in and switching between them.

Google stopped allowing apps to use its API from April tis year so webinarjam swapped over to functioning with youtube live.

If you are considering other alternatives then the free level of Zoom may suit your purpose. Details of their plans are here---> https://zoom.us/pricing

    Best regards,

    Ozi

So, does Zoom let me make Google Hangouts (or Live Events)?

I'm new to all of this and not very 'technical' (obviously?).

I just want to make some videos & rank them on YT, and someone told me that Live Events are quicker & easier to rank than 'regular' YT videos. And that (somehow?) I could upload a 'regular' video in place of the Live Event (when, or before?, it started to lose traction) & it would last longer than the Live Event would.

Then someone else said that I should do Google Hangouts instead .. but I'm getting confused.

So I'm just looking for a relatively easy (& inexpensive) way to make & rank videos. But I'm confused about whether I'd do a Live Event (or a Google Hangout) first & if/when it ranks, then replace it with a 'regular' video, or vice versa, or what?!

      Thnx,
      Richard

From you initial OP I assumed you wanted to do webinar stuff or chat to people live.

If you want to live just use Youtube Live and if you need some additional functionality use Wirecast with Youtube live.

As for ranking the video there may have been a slight edge some time ago if you were doing a live cast and you had targeted the right keywords in the title of the video but I'm not so sure you will get a boost in ranking going live or pre-recorded.

It is best to make quality content that people want and are searching for.

There are many aspects to get videos to rank or to get views, shares etc.

Have you considered joining the sub forum run by Kurt who replied to you earlier?

Some of the questions you probably should be asking are already answered there.

this is where the sub forum lives--->
        http://www.warriorforum.com/high-voltage-video-forum/
        .

Kurt also has some useful tools and training that are very reasonably priced that provide excellent information and results worth far more than the asking price.

I'd suggest you check out the high voltage video forum and read some of the stuff on video ranking inside there as it will get you off on the right track.

        Best regards,

        Ozi

As Ozi suggest, forget about Hangout and move to Live. Wirecast has free and cheap ($10) and OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is free.

For Youtube, I prefer Wirecast as Youtube makes it a little easier to use than the others. For Facebook Live, OBS will work, although I "think" Wirecast may be FB compatible now.

      Kurt -

Thanks, but I was under the impression that Live Events 'fade away' after a while, and that Hangouts were easier to keep ranking.

      BTW, who is 'Ozi'?

It's just the opposite. While Live Events do seem to have a bit of an advantage for ranking, it's only at first. After than any video, including Live Events, will need good engagement numbers such as session watch time and viewer retention.

It "should be" $22 one time payment.

Double check that you're selecting the High Voltage Video Forum and not the War Room.

              Thanks, Kurt.

              1) You're right: it's $27. My old eyes saw $97, but didn't realize it was for the War Room.

              2) Would I find info &/or software tools to be able to start creating Google Hangouts, in there?

              3) Just to clarify your earlier reply:

So, are you saying that Google Hangouts really have no advantage over either Live Events or 'regular' YT videos in terms of how well they rank (& keep ranking) over the long run? And that it comes down to Views, Comments &/or Subscriptions, on the one hand, and to BackLinks on the other?

              Thanks again,

Sorry, I don't mess with Google Hangouts. I posted links to free and cheap software to create YT Live above.

Keywords are really for relevancy. Viewer engagement determines ranking. The most important ranking factors IMO are:

Viewer retention, which is what percentage of a video is watched...20%, 40%, 70% etc.

Session watch time, which is how many more minutes of video are watched on YT AFTER viewers watch your video(s). Do people watch more videos after yours, or do they leave YT instead?

Accumulated watch time, which is the total minutes of watch time channels and videos get over time.

In other words, YT now puts a high priority on videos people like to watch as well as that generate more watch time for other YT videos.

Links have little to do with ranking in YT search, but play a bigger role in Google ranking. Just be aware that for video, ranking in YT generally gets more views than a video ranking in Google, but this will vary depending on the niche.

Thanks! I'll def'ly check out Kurt's sub-forum & possibly some of his software tools!

    Richard

PS Hmmm! I got a '403' & was denied access. It said I might not be a War Room member, but I joined back when the War Room was first introduced .. I think.. I thought I was 'grand-fathered in', but maybe not.

    I'll check with the Admin.

    Thanks, Kurt.

I'll check out WireCast. But I probably should have prefaced my questions with the fact that I'd like to 'cast' some pre-recorded videos I have, as Hangouts or Live Events - and from what I've since picked up, I can't do that directly with YT, FB or Google .. because they want "live" videos, not pre-recorded ones.

So I guess I should be looking for some special software-tool that will let me 'cast' my pre-recorded video as though it were a Hangout (or Live Event, failing that).

II *think* SplitCam will let me do ('emulate'?) Hangouts, but it seems a little too 'technical' for me, which is why I'm looking for something else.

    Thanks again,
    Richard

Both Wirecast and OBS allow you to broadcast prerecorded videos as live events and I believe you can do the same with OBS for Facebook.
