You won't be sorry you learned this ...

The great John Caples made a discovery that can help you in your marketing regardless of your niche, your product, or your service. Would you be interested in knowing what he learned?

After analyzing the 100 greatest money generating headlines of all time (I'm not sure how that assessment was made), Caples found that the word "you" appeared 31 times, and the second most often appearing word (14 times) was "your." Third was "how" (12), then "new" (10), and "who" (8).

What is the take away?

I'll leave that up to you ... but here's a hint ... don't address an audience - rather elicit the attention and emotion of the individual.

Something I learned from an insurance salesman:
Always speak as if they have already purchased or made the decision to purchase your product.

i.e. When you are using your product you will vs If you buy our product you will...

In 1963 David Ogilvy compiled a list of the 20 most influential words.. interestingly, the words 'you' and 'free' are noticeably missing. I don't know why... Anybody know?

    Here's the list:

    Suddenly
    Now
    Announcing
    Introducing
    Improvement
    Amazing
    Sensational
    Remarkable
    Revolutionary
    Startling
    Miracle
    Magic
    Offer
    Quick
    Easy
    Wanted
    Challenge
    Compare
    Bargain
    Hurry

    These words grab attention.

    Great point Steve B., thanks!

@Michael Meaney it could've been an innocent oversight...maybe?

For myself I've noticed the word 'best' gets my attention too.

Sometimes genuinely, sometimes as a challenge, like... is it really???
Either way it usually piques my curiosity and works on me
