  • You can outsource article rewriting really cheap at elance.com. I just had ten 450-600 articles rewritten for under $40 and the person did a great job.

I even set requirements in my job posting that the articles had to be 85% original and required the final submission to be tested with free software at dupefreepro to confirm my criteria was met....only took 2 days and bam!...there's my articles.

A really good and free method is to do the following..

      1. Copy your seed article.
      2. Go to Text and Web - Google Translate
      3. Paste in your seed article.
      4. Assuming the seed article is English, choose English in the first drop down box and the pick a random language (e.g. French) in the second drop down box.
      5. Click on the translate button.
      6. Copy the translated article and paste it into the first window.
      7. Click on swap, to change the translation language back the other way. (e.g. French to English).
      8. Click on the translate button.
      9. Copy the new article into your text editor and clean up any nonsense stuff. The whole process takes less than 5 minutes.

Here is a sample for you..

      Original Paragraph
Keep in mind that your tiny puppy has lived his entire short life thus far in the warmth and security of his mother and littermates. All of a sudden, he is lifted from his safe environment to go it alone in your home. What will help this little guy to feel safe and secure again. Besides plenty of love and care, your pup will respond well to a routine that he can depend on. Consistency is the key here, whether it comes to his meals, playtime or housebreaking. Before you bring your puppy home, decide which family member will be responsible for the feedings, and make sure that the designated person will be available to keep a regular feeding schedule for your dog. Talk to a vet or breeder about the best way to feed your puppy in terms of number and frequency of feedings. Your beginning puppy training will go much more smoothly if your dog has a routine that he can count on.

I didn't clean up the translation just so you can see what it actually does. If the differences are a bit to subtle then just try some different translation languages. Also if the opposite is true then choose a different language.

Steve, I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but I tried to work with this method extensively. Personally I've found this method to be pretty terrible.

        Here's why:

        1. You wind up doing more clean up work for the time and effort that it's worth. By the time you're done doing the clean up work, you could have just manually re-wrote the article yourself in a shorter amount of time.

        2. If you have software that compares the duplicate content (I use dupefreepro) you're going to find that even when you're done cleaning up the article, the new article is not very unique in comparison to your "seed" article. In other words, if you need a highly unique article compared to the original, this method does a pretty terrible job of achieving that.

These are my personal findings with this method. If it does work for you, great. I just want people to be aware that it's not really a miracle push button solution. (Not that there is such a thing when it comes to this topic, at least not yet)

I would also like to throw in my recommendation for Andy's tool. It's wonderful.

Here's the best way I've found to use his tool. Say you have an article that is 8 paragraphs. Say you want 30% uniqueness.

What I do is I pick the 3 paragraphs with the most words. I then put those into Andy's tool and re-write those paragraphs sentence by sentence.

When you're done and you check it using a tool like dupefreepro you'll see that if you didn't hit 30% uniqueness you'll be pretty close. If I didn't make it, I just pick half of another paragraph and re-write that. Usually, that will put it over the goal unique %

If you want 50% uniqueness then you're going to have to re-write 4-4/12 paragraphs. To find out roughly how many paragraphs you have to re-write to achieve your desired uniqueness you take your total number of paragraphs and multiply by the desired percentage in decimal form.

Using the above example if I wanted 60% uniqueness I would take 8 x .6=4.8 Of course, I always round it up so it would be 5. As I said, this is a rough guide. You may have to do a little more if you find that when you're re-writing the paragraphs you're using a lot of the same words that are in the original.

I used to just put white space between the paragraphs I wanted to re-write in Word, using the methods above to determine which ones needed re-writing, but Andy's tool has made this task a lot easier.

Well, it's all about opinion at the end of the day. The translation technique is free and I have to disagree about the translated article not being very unique after a bit of a rewrite. I can get a translated article up to around 60% different within 5 or 10 minutes for a 500 word article.

To be honest, I don't go down the rewriting PLR route much anymore as I prefer just adding a couple of paragraphs to the start and end and a new title as well. This is enough to get a page with my article on it indexed and ranked for my target keyword, so long as my on and off page seo is good of course.

Why is it that the OP asked a question, and over half the replies
answered in a way that the author specifically asked NOT to provide.

My method is to restructure each sentence in M$Word, and then
use the thesaurus to change meaningful synonyms. Yes, I know
Word is software, but so is a text editor :p

My suggestion is to go to a bookstore and get the Roget's Desk Reference set. It contains 3 books, a dictionary, thesaurus and a writer's guide to English. All you will actually need is the dictionary and the thesaurus. If your article is 300 words long then you will want to change somewhere in the neighborhood of 45 to 100 words or 15% to 33% of your article. Then re-read the article and add 1 to 2 paragraphs of new information to fill in any holes in your information. You now have an article that will not be deemed as duplicate content by any of the article submission places.

    Method 2:

Take 2 to 6 articles on the same topic and mix and match paragraphs from each article. This method will produce a new article that should also pass the criteria for non duplicate articles. This method works best the more articles you have to start off with.

    Method 3:

Read over the article and decide how you want to add additional information into the following areas: Header and Introduction; Main Body and finally the Footer and Exit Paragraph. The Intro should only get 3 to 5 sentences added while the main body should get 3 or 4 new paragraphs added to it. The footer and exit paragraph can be totally rewritten to match the new information added in the main body.

These are the 3 primary methods for spinning articles. You can pick one, mix and match these methods or use all three together. That is up to you.

    Hope that helps.

Please note that not one item of software was mentioned in the entire answer.

    Ewen,

    Your Welcome!!

Adding this comment after seeing that you were looking for a solution software free - Andy Blacks rewriter software simply separates the article into sentences with space between the next sentence so you can rewrite the article one line at a time and then the software puts the rewritten article back in paragraph form so it's not proactively rewriting the article for you.

Zuess's WSO is definitely what you are looking for direction in doing it yourself. I tried to write an article for months and this WSO helped me rewrite an article immediately after reading the material!!

Both of these tools give you free software to test your rewritten article to see how unique it is after you rewrite it.

    Good Luck!

I personally think its nuts to manually do it, when you can spin variations using a semi-automated way and get 50 varations in under 5 minutes!

I have used this free site and its great:

Free Article Spinner: Write Once. Spin it. Publish Many. Backlinks Galore in SEO Heaven.

That is a genuine recommendation, I have no idea who owns the site, but its a fast and effective variation-spinner.

Rewriting manually does not have to be a big deal. I'm constantly rewriting PLR and can do 7-8 in an hour without being drained or burned out. It's not like writing - if you do it correctly. Writing something original does mentally drain you if you do it for several hours straight. Rewriting does not drain you because you're not as engaged as you are when you create something new. It just takes the right system and some practice.

I think some people missed the gold on your post. I had to give you a "Thanks" for that, my friend. And thanks again!

I find manually rewriting articles on Word with a good thesaurus website to hand the best way of rewriting articles to be honest. You've got to be careful when rewriting to maintain the meaning of the sentence, the meaning of that particular phrase in the sentence, and the meaning of the sentence within the rest of the body of text.

All are honestly, quite complex things to do.

And if it's for SEO purposes, which it undoubtedly is, article spinning is a better alternative (I'm assuming the OP didn't mean this by 're-writing'). A little effort and intelligence writing the framework to spin an article pays off in dividends - you can have 200 articles from one original seed article all about 70%-80% unique.

Here are some tips for rewriting your article manually
    1. Turn your article into an FAQ.
    2. Change it to a "How-To" article
    3. Use bullets and numbered lists
    4. Use a thesaurus to shorten sentences and replace 'big" words
    5. Change the sentence structure to read the way you talk

    Is this a quiz?

    Two practical ways I can think of are;
    typewriter
    pen & paper

but why you'd want to avoid software is beyond me :p

If you are using softwares, apart from Andy's Easy Article Rewriter all the content rewriters that i have used are just crap. Power Article Rewriter is another rewriter that is great and worth using but unfortunately it is not free.

Now, if you dont want to use any software, the next best thing is to use your brain.

I am heavily into article marketing and i use the following method to generate unique rewritten articles

    1. Download WordWeb(its free) from the internet. Do not worry its not a software. It is an online dictionary and thesaurus and the best thing is it gets minimized to the tray and can be used with almost any applications.
    2. Open your article that is to be rewritten in Word or Notepad.
    3. Now when rewriting articles change atleast 4 words per big sentence and 2 for small sentence. You can also reword some of the sentences.
    4. Now you people will be asking how do i change the words. That is when WordWeb comes into play. Just select the word you want to change and press Ctrl+Alt+W(default for WordWeb) and lo you have a list of synonyms. Replace the word with your desired synonym.
    5. Do this for the entire article(4 words per big sentence and two words per small sentence) and you will have unique content.

The above method takes about 5-10 minutes depending on your speed. You can mix it with other methods mentioned above and come up with a solution for yourself.

    Wishing you success..

Do the article rewriting tools elude copyscape, or would I be better off manually rewriting? Thanks.

The above was my first post.
In addition to the above you can look at the following sources for unique articles

      1. Old newspapers make for nice articles.
      2. Community newpapers(almost all are mostly offline)
      3. Go to a library and write review of the books
      4. Old magazines contains some really useful article.
      5. Record television news, magazine-format shows and public access TV (shows with lots of info in them), and use as source material for your articles.

      Hope this helps..

    Without software? Okay:

    1. Read one paragraph
    2. Write down how you remember it.
Go back to step 1) with the next paragraph.

You'll rewrite the article naturally with the flow, without much effort.
