How do I start with internet marketing?

The best advice is to do your homework before spending any significant amount of money. Internet marketing is so huge / many ways to get started and it's not as easy as many will want you to believe.

For the past 16 years, I have been promoting PPL (pay per lead... lead generating) offers.This is because there is no credit card / purchase required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form, so conversion rates tend to be much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

You can find PPL offers at most CPA networks. This is the simplest way to get access to them.

You can become an affiliate directly with the advertiser / offer owner. You can usually get a higher payout this way, over a CPA network.

Last but not least, you could develop your own offers and sell the leads directly to the end users. This requires more work and has more risk, but offers the most reward.

I've done all of the above. For anyone starting out, the first is the easiest.

I favor offers that have a make, get or save money benefit to them, as they have overall worked the best. They also tend to have the greatest mass appeal (will be of interest to a large general audience), so the potential exists to produce high volume and they are fairly easy to cross promote on the back-end.

Some of the verticals(niches) I have done extremely well with are: education, insurance, loans, debt, credit, mortgage, assistance, discount offers, homeowner offers, etc...

The bulk of the offers that I promote pay around $20-$40 per lead, but I also promote offers that pay more and less. However, you don't want to get caught up solely on what an offer pays because how well it converts is just as important. For example, if you have an offer that pays $9, but if it converts at 2X or more of a $20 offer, then it will perform about the same and possibly better. At the same time, if you have an offer that pays $90 and it converts poorly, it may not even be worth promoting.

Bottom line, it is far easier to get someone fill out a short form than to get them to pull out their credit card and make a purchase. So why struggle with trying to sell this or that, when you can provide free information that users want/need and get paid well doing it.

For the most part, I drive traffic to offers by acquiring 3rd party email data. Which is data that the users have shown an interest in a specific vertical(niche) and have given permission to receive messages from third parties. You get the opt-in record for each user and it's 100% can-spam compliant.

Basically, I monetize the data using PPL offer because they offer the path of least resistance to generating conversions and converting the data to cash producing assets.

Online lead generation is a multi-billion dollar industry. Done right it can be far more profitable than many imagine. Everyone that I know that is in the business and knows what they are doing, for the most part, does 6-7 figures. While that may sound like a huge range, much comes down to one's abilities to scale and effectively build/manage the infrastructure needed to scale.

Something to think about.

Start by spending a few hours reading posts on Warrior.

As for investing the number varies. But before you research both IM and costs associated with starting up ask yourself: why? Why are you in IM? It has to be bigger than just making money. Tie the reason to something fun. Something freeing. Like, pick niche you feel passionate about and you can then dive into your niche, with research and also figuring out how much scratch you want to invest.

Get a regular job. Spend 2-3 hours a day learning IM. In a years time you should be ready to get into affiliate marketing. It takes a lot of time to generate a good income from affiliate marketing unless you are paying for clicks.

Ok, you need a strong focus and a strong brand, being a badass with a memorable brand make things Soooooooooooooooo much easier...

1- Your brand
2- Sell your product as a service
3- A good sales funnel
4- Great marketing, traffic and conversion..

So first step is to have your focus, why are you different, what make them buy from you..

When you start your affiliate marketing business nothing will happen until you help your merchant partner sell his products and services. This will be done through your site (blog) and your marketing or advertising. It is only after a sale is made that you receive a commission for your assistance in making the sale.

It is therefore necessary for you to have a well designed website and a well thought out marketing plan that generates a regular flow of traffic to your site.

Most of the work you will have to do in any affiliate marketing plays around creating, improving, and tweaking your own website and advertising so that you can drive more traffic and sales.

I started my blog on blogger back in 2007 and i added clickbank offers inside
I started to comment on other blogger blogs and forums in my niche and i saw results in my first month then i build a list and i started from there.

You should look upto people who are successful in this feild and teach online through webinars or books wriiten by them, like Robert Kiyosaki Adrian Morisson or Anik Singhal look them up and youll know where to start and how to start .

Find the niche that you like and want to go all the way.
See what is your passion is about ask your self is this really

If so go for it and give your best shot.

I would advice you to keep away your wallet for now. Try out the techniques that doesn't need you to spend on them and see what you can come up with. If you're lucky enough and you make some money, then you can now re-invest back the money on your online business.

Trust me, for every paid course or tutorial, there is a free one out there if you're willing to search long enough.

Dont use your nest egg to buy any "how to" package .. most of them are hot air or re ash
Dont try to learn it all up front because you'll just get more confused
Start the way that i started.. Are you passionate about any niche out there
then
find that niche at clickbank or at any forum
then create a blog as a landing page and start promoting.
You want to start promoting up front because it normally takes a while to get conversions

that first conversion will motivate you and drive to continue..
dont worry about not knowing all the short cuts and tricks.
.that will come with time and experience
you can start promoting using free or pay traffic
