A little help here would go a long way

Hi All,

Thank you for your comments to my last post here. I see this as very encouraging and will hope that you all here will guide me in my learning endeavors in Digital marketing. Now that I have my first rain of comments, and with the additional knowledge acquired via various online portals, I find it all rather overwhelming, than finding myself with a precise plan to pursue my goals in online marketing for my own website

I know and understand that SEO is the first I want to pursue, but with all of the information I have gathered, I find myself feeling clueless. I am sure, many of you may have been in similar positions when you started your journey in online marketing and are today where you are. I am hoping you guys would help me here with regard to taking specific steps in the following:

On-page optimization
Off-page optimization
Any particular tools that you would recommend I use to measure my success (free tools)
Tools that help me understand that I am doing the right thing and can (free tools)
Things I should do and should not
A calendar tool where I can map all of my activity (free)

While the resources I am looking up have proven helpful, this platform, your support should help me move along. I hope that with the encouragement with which you all welcomed me to this forum, your thoughts, suggestions, help me pave the way in my learning and its application on my website, equally.

While this forum is so knowledge enriching, I would only hope to refrain from being contacted for any marketing perusal for any personal services. I am sure you for those who reach out would understand my dilemma for taking this decision at this budding stage. Hope to hear from you guys and your continued support.

Regards,
#long

    1. Do you have a website? What is it?
    2. What do you want to do with that site actually? Promote it? Or sell something? Or what?

Regardless all of above questions, here's the "things you should do and should not":
You should invest in to yourself and pay for that.
You should not expect a magic from all free stuffs.

    Good luck!

That said, Yes, I do have a website and I do understand that I cannot promote something I don't have.

Couldn't agree with you more on the part of staying invested on myself for my learning endeavors. I am sure you would agree with me here, that unless I am able to effective understand the free tools, only then will I understand and be in a position to make a purchase decision for relevant tools.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts here.

Hey, well first of all decide where you wanna be in a while and then move that direction. I mean, if you have a site of some particular janre, then you can try selling traffic and get money from networks. again, depending on what kind of site and traffic you have, you can try different networks. there are many companies in the market

I've been into SEO for several years (literally) and one of the best books/resources I have read is "Search Engine Optimization For Dummies." (Just search Amazon.com)

It's authored by Bruce Clay (a very well established SEO and Marketing expert). https://www.bruceclay.com/

    Have fun.

Google is the best FREE tool available at your disposal. Any topic you don't understand, type and read it up in google. If you still can't understand, watch the video on YouTube.

It's like I'm reading a Terms of Service agreement.

    Relax, it will be ok.

Why do you want to start with SEO? IMO, in most cases SEO should be used as additional traffic, not the only traffic source. SEO isn't easy when you're first starting IM, it can overwhelm most people.

Maybe tell us the niche, there might be an easier traffic source (ex: niche forums, social, etc...).

Lol. I wish to pursue SEO to start with. My services my company offers includes graphic design, websites, back office operations.

One of the suggestions in another group proposed that I consider forum posting and particularly look for forums that cater to my niche.

There have been many changes in search engines. Most are using signals from social media now.

Basically, your question is - How do I increase my exposure.... and not spend a lot of money.

Well, try using twitter and pinterest and other social media platforms as this will also increase your SEO score.

Are you trying to do SEO for your own website or offering it as a service? Sounds like either one would be a waste of time.
