Too many gurus?

I don't think the guru hype is worth it, but I do think a few gurus have created products that have changed the way I thought about the world. These include:

John Carlton's Secrets of a Marketing Rebel
Frank Kern Mass Control
Jeff Walker PLF2.0

There are other versions of above, but I had no problem paying for them.

If you know most of what these guys teach then concentrate on building your business. There is merit to investing in your education, but I can tell you that perhaps only 1 in 100 new products that come out each year contains anything groundbreaking. Which is why when I get the emails from 5 different gurus promoting the same product I hit the delete button.

The only people I give a look in are the marketers that break away from the pack and try to sell me something unique and of value.

People I would buy from:

Frank Kern - He Knows His Stuff and deserves guru status.

Mike Filsaime - He's an inspiration in himself, even if he doesn't produce products that promise $1 million in 2 days. Just look at how he's built his business and you get a sense of how real an internet empire can be for you and me.

Lyn Terry - Quietly building a business whilst genuinely helping people starting out to succeed.

There are a few others I can mention but these guys are at the top of my list.

Oh yeah, that Ryan Deiss is also sound!

Not for nothin', but I've had more success promoting products I've used and like than ones I haven't used.

No matter what anyone says - there's a whole lot of
good in LOTS of the guru products that can help just
about anyone. Knowing some "gurus" myself, I know
the HUGE amount of time and effort lots of them
put into preparing their products and most always
do so with the first intention of HELPING, even more
than getting money from them.

I have to agree with arepb. I'm sure there's an alternative out there rather than paying someone for advice.
