Hi

Would anyone having any views on whether Free or Paid is the best way to promote your website or product

    I personally would start with free methods (articles, forum posting, blogs) and then reinvest the profits in paid advertising.

    But as dave147 said, you could start with both methods, and see which one has the best resutls, then go with that one only and ramp it up.

    Just remember that there are other methods than just google adwords: Yahoo, MSN, media buy, WSO... so don't put all your money in google and hope for the best.

    Well my friend i would prefer free one coz if your skill and market research is good then there is no use of hiring any marketing professional.

    If you are financially able, then by all means use PPC. It is much faster than any free method, however, article writing and forum posts are powerful and free.

    Both free and paid advertising methods have their own advantages and disadvantages.

    After working on PPC for a while (AdWords to be specific), I started to like PPC for the following reasons:

    * Ads appear quickly usually within 15 minutes
    * Flexible keyword targeting: Broad match, phrase match, exact match, and negative keywords
    * Geo-targeting: Target prospects from pre-defined regions; show different marketing messages to people from different regions.
    * Able to split test ads to determine the optimum ad title, ad copy, etc.
    * Able to set preferred ad position: There's no guarantee but it's much easier to influence the position of your ad

    However, the best advertising method for you is the method that gives you the most cost-efficient result. So you may need to test out a few methods to find out the one that works best.
