Any marketing advise?

Hey I need some marketing advises.
I own a company A , Company B is my main competitor.
Since few days, company B is using my name (company A) as a google keyword.
When people looks for my company (A), they see an Ad from Company B saying "Why go for second best? come to company B".
This is really annoying me and I obviously have to respond.
So, I'm gonna use their name as a keyword for my company but I need a TEST/QUOTE that respond to their Ad.
I hope I explained it properly.
Any ideas?

Well, that's quite common to use a competitor's name as keyword to show your ad on top of his Google result.

In terms of the negativity, I don't think that outside the law, but of course, that depends on the country.

If you're looking for a place to start, why not do exactly what they did? Target their name as a keyword and do the exact same ad copy as they have. So when people search for your competitor, the first think they see is "Why go for second best? Try A instead"

      Thanks Eduard.

What's your biggest point of difference/advantage? Why should customers choose you over them? Things like:

Save 20% compared to Company B

The are 10% more expensive than us.
The quality is the same. I was working for them before I leave to open the new company A

Some decades ago, the 2nd car leasing company ran and ad that said, We're number 2. We try harder.

You can go with something similar. You can see a copy of that ad here: Hertz vs. Avis advertising wars: How an ad firm made a virtue out of second place.

    You're emphasizing
What happens when people win? Get to be #1?
They rest on their laurels. They don't go the extra mile for you. Their customer service might suffer. The attention to detail might suffer.

You, being number 2, are still hungry, you're alert, eager to produce, to please...

Alternatively, you could go along something like:

Company B's putting out ads using our name. Are they doing it because they know our name will get people to click on the ad? Then tell them they only get the real thing they're after with your company. (Whether it will work depends on the exact way your competitor is advertising.)

You must have competitors. So you should do better than your competitors. If you have quality, you are permanent.
But promoting is a big issue, it is also a challenge. So take the challenge and use it perfectly. Don't loose heart. Competition is good. Be clever.
    Thanks.

      I do agree

the thing is that we are a 8 month old company.
Company B is spending 15'000 $ a month in google and marketing.
We are ex-employees of company B who left cause we were tired of being treated like salves by the owner who think that he is god.

I know this is maddening at first, but I completely ignore folks from my niche who do anything negative, then they stop doing Where you put your attention and energy, grows. This method is fool proof. Works really well, sometimes hours, sometimes days.

The catch? You have to face, embrace and dive into the intense fear of loss, which plagues most human beings

I tend to agree with Ryan B above. Don't worry about trying to compete with Company B as it sounds like they are the more established and more well healed company. Do you have $15K/month to market?

The very best thing you can do is focus on your own quality offerings and what you do best. Let prospects make up their own minds based on what you offer compared to what Company B offers. Don't be shy about a head to head comparison with Company B right on your web site - that should really get their blood boiling. As long as you are truthful and really do have more to offer, you will be fine. In fact, their advertising using your business as a keyword could really be used to your own advantage if you are creative and smart about it.

    Good luck,

    Steve
