Forum and Blog Traffic

Hi guys, I have watched several videos on how to get traffic and Forums/blogs or "google alert" traffic seem to be a recurring theme; however, I haven't had much luck. No luck..to be honest. I can find maybe 6-8 blog posts per day and a lot of them moderate their comments. As for forums, I have not been active yet but should I even try?

Also are signature still effective on WF with the new layout?

Thanks guys.

I prefer forum traffic, you can get a lot of traffic by your signature. As you said blog comments is a little more hard and you have to wait for your comments to be approved.

It is true. And it is actually very annoying. Most of the time people don't even approve of the blog comment. That is worse.

Of course they don't approve it. Most don't want your spammy links on their site.

Post blog comments that actually add value to people's lives and you'll see more of your comments approved.

Forums are great for traffic only if people find value in your contributions AND your sig grabs eyeballs.

I have driven so much traffic, and landed clients and customers through effective, thoughtful blog commenting, it is nuts. Totally undervalued approach to making friends and establishing influence in your niche.

You might be able to get some traffic from forums, but you completely lack credibility and are not going to attract buyers.

You signature promises $5-65k per month, yet you do not even have a website you own. It's on a Weebly blog.

You are asking how to get traffic. I would think someone who can make $5-65k per month would already know how to build traffic.

Not trying to sound nasty. Just honest observations.

The ole fake it till you make it lol

Anyway, to the OP Google Alerts can be a decent tool. Just input a good size number of KYs and then go to your Inbox everyday and check out the sites/articles etc.. and if they are closely related to your Niche leave a quality comment with link leading back to your Site

Different traffic generation techniques have their own peculiar challenges. Generating traffic to your website is a continuous thing and you must be prepared to do the work. Every traffic generation techniques you listed up there work but before they do, you must work on yourself by knowing what you have to do to generate quality traffic from those means. Do it and you will get results.

Hey, when it comes to traffic from blogs, you need to contribute consistently and create a relationship with the blogger, not so much the audience. By creating that relationship with the blogger, they are more likely to carry a conversation with you in the comments. By doing this, you are exposing yourself as another great source of information with the insights and ideas you bring to the conversations. People will see that publicly, and since usually bloggers are too focused on their work and lifestyle to talk to a lot of their audience individually, you can sort of step in and answer questions and create relationships with their audience.

Now, for forums, those take time as well, because you need to get established with the community. It's like going to a new school... You can't just walk in and on your first day, be the guy everyone trusts and wants to listen to for advice. People are going to be skeptical of what you have to say until you offer them quality value that is applicable to their goals or desires in that topic.

Once people see you as an authentic, caring source of information and guidance, you can then engage more people through your signature block. Biggest key to either form of traffic generation is understanding who your target market is, and what they want for a leader. What kind of personality are they, what do they do in their free time, how dedicated are they to their following, etc.

    Hope this stuff helps!

There are several ways to get traffic to your website. And commenting on forum leaving a signature is just one of the many ways.

If you aren't having any luck with it then stop trying it. On the internet, you should always work on the process that is working for you. Not the same process works for everyone.

But leaving my signature on a forum does work for me. I am very new to the forum but is actually working better than social media for me. You should try various ways and check what works for you.

I hope "How To Get More Traffic To Your Blog" helps. It has many ways through which you can get traffic to your blog. And increase the number of traffic to your blog significantly. All the steps are proven and are explained in details. I highly recommend that you should read it. I hope it had helped you.

The key with using the 'bum' marketing methods of forum/blog commenting is to actually provide value.
Think of each comment as a mini-advertisement for you and your product/service/blog.
Now, here are some extra tips not mentioned so far:
    For Forums:
-Every forum that I've ever been on has SOME way of telling you how many people have viewed the pages and posts. Use this data to determine which topics are the hottest and most evergreen/in demand.
-Then, begin a new thread using a new angle or your own unique approach to solving the problem, with mentions (in the right places and doses) of your own stuff. Something as simple as, "For more detailed info about ____, click my signature"

Think of this as using a forum AS a guest post opportunity for a blog. Then, go through the related forum threads and start promoting your new thread in order to bring some attention to it.
For Extra Credit: Do some keyword research before posting, and use it in the headline, subhead, and body of the forum posts in order to grab lots of organic traffic from search engines too.
That's the basics behind Parasite SEO; using another site with more Google love in order to get your own content out there on page 1.

    For Blogs:
-Make sure to read the article and identify a way that you could add your own 2 cents by leaving a comment.
Blog comments should 1)complement and 2)continue the topic discussion that was had in the blog post. Just leaving some garbage behind you like:
"Good post. Thanks for sharing. https://____.com"
That's not gonna cut it. Would you approve that comment? Let those questions be the benchmarks you use to determine the comments you leave.
    Would I approve this?
Does this add to the discussion?

Not to be selfish here, but look at this comment I am currently typing. There is a lot of value I just shared, with actionable tips to boot.
How would you like to read more?
This is the kind of quality comment that leads to people turning into fans. 5 or more of these per day, in the right places, can build you a solid business.

Bonus Tip: Once you've got an audience of real fans beginning to trickle in due to your commenting and so forth, you should really consider holding a competition.
Turn those fans into your de facto marketing staff. How?
Buy something awesome and cheap off Groupon, and create a contest where you give it away to 1 (or more) readers in exchange for promoting you.
Tell-a-friend scripts, sharing buttons, Facebook likes and shares, etc. Use them all to entice your fans to grow the tribe, all for a $150-$250 package/pricepoint. Best ad dollars ever spent.

Who ever said remove your siggy link to gain credibility is misinformed. It's not the link that provides credibility, but the post itself should provide some type of value to the op. The more helpful the post, the more credible the source.

When I first got started with forum posting years ago, a simple strategy I chose was to make 3 post a day, and within 30 days, I made my very first sale. I must admit that it takes discipline to write 3 VALUE giving post, particularly when it didn't look like anything was happening for 3 weeks. But then, in my final week of posting, I made a sale without any warning, or private messaging, or nothing. I checked my back office and there it was.

Listen! No author will accept your comment if you only put your link with the word "nice". You need to provide longer and valueable comment e.g:- tell them what is missing in the article, how his article and site is best on the internet , how his content (Product) helped you, why you subscribed to his newsletter etc.
For forum you need an eye catching signature which is worth clicking, also it should be related to forum and helpful for them

Forums can be great places to find new costumers as well as build strong relationships with those you already have. But you should take forums seriously not lightly. Consider that behind every avatar there`s a real person that should be treated with respect. So keep providing value as much as you can and solve problems all the day on forums.

Everything Ryan B said above. He is a hard core blogger who's constantly over delivering value with his content.

    My two cents...

It seems like either approach works.

    Blog comments or Forum marketing.

But what ever you decide to choose, just know that it will take a lot of doing.

These are both free methods of quality traffic generation but they will still cost you a lot of your time and hard earned effort.

But in the end it will be definitely worth it just as long as you have a 'long term plan' and stick with it for the long run.

These long term plans will apply to any form of marketing.

Even paid traffic has a learning curve.
