Ideas For Creating An Info Product

Hello Warrior Forum Members,

I have been struggling with finding a step-by-step guide or course for creating an information product.

I have a course I want to sell but need some guidance on what to include with my course, such as eBooks, videos, etc. How to structure it, and a basic structure for creating a good information product people will enjoy and find useful.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not sure why you can't easily find what you're looking for. Just Google "info product creation" and the results will give you loads of products and courses to choose from.

If you're wondering about a specific product, try this section of the forum:

First off, be SUPER good at what you do. You're never ever in a million years going to make a great info product unless you're super good at what you do.

If it's a linear process (like baking a cake) break it down into steps. What's the first step to baking a cake? Make that first step a product in itself. Work on perfecting that product until you are comfy going to product (step 2).

What's the next step to baking a cake? Make that next step an entirely new "product" and so on. If you focus on perfecting each step, organizing the content in the end becomes easy.

If your offering is "non linear" like "the differences between cow poop and horse poop" then, you want to focus on the aspects. Example; if horse poop is more "smelly," make a "product" about how and why the horse poop is smelly. Then, do the same for "cow poop." Again, at the end you'll find it easy to organize everything into a coherent product.

    I hope this helps!

Your course, should have 3, 5 or 7 parts. Above this, you have 2 courses or an advanced course.

    It will look like this

    IF a 3 part course:

Introduction. Short 5 min video on who you are and how you came to be THE person to teach this. Intro used to build cred, authority and establish expertise. Have the video transcribed for your PDF file or web page.

Part One. Overview, here is what you are going to learn. Tell them what they get from it.

Part Two. The methods, techniques and applications of the info in Part one.

Part Three. Resources, summary, additional info, feedback and next step.

    IF 5 Part course, add:

Part Four. Advanced techniques or methods once part 2 steps are mastered.

Part Five. How to maximize, monetize, gain momentum and scale up.

    If a 7 Part: Add:

Part Six. Lifetime Value, more applications, mastery of the course, any advanced or secrets.

Part Seven Summary, checklists, actions to be taken. Tell them what they learned and what to do next.

So, there you have help in a step by step manner depending on how many parts your course will have. More than 7, break it into at least 2 courses, beginner/Advanced or if it has a lot more to it, beginner/intermediate/advanced.

YOU COULD have video for each part, or audio. Best reviewed courses use all things, but make it easy for your students. MP3/4 to download to phone, makes it easy for those who like to listen while doing other things.

Video where needed to show, demonstrate, or when needed, keep it short and sweet and to the point. Have it some place your student can review it whenever she wants.

PDF, universal cross platform way to deliver content, lessons, assignments. You could have documents too, charts, graphs or whatever, and all of that can be neatly tucked into a PDF.

Probably the most important thing is your TARGET AUDIENCE. Who will want this course? What do they get from it? Why YOU?

You could create a brief report, to see what kind of interest and in the report, do a survey.

One of the best ways to create your step by step course is, sit down and write the promotion for it first. Put in everything you think the reader will want in the course and by writing the PROMOTION first, it will help you to shape your content and your product. Use the 7 parts above to tell people what they get in your promotion, and flow it from 1 to 7.

    Does this help?

PS. Been there, done that. Also, each "Part" could have several "chapters or lessons" in it,

Say your 3 part course has 3 chapters in Part One. 5 in Part two, 7 in part three. So a 3 part course could have 15 different smaller lessons, classes or chapters in it. But you asked for a structure, take the 3, 5 and 7 part structure and add whatever you want.

Thank you so much, Gordon. Everything you shared was very helpful!

I was so surprised by the amount of time you took to really try and answer my question.

So if I can help you in any way with my skills, I'd be honored.

I'm a trained copywriter with a proven track record, and I specialize in self-help. But I can write for any niche, and I know how to get the results you want or need.

So if you ever need anything AT ALL, send me a private message, and I'd be more than honored to write some copy for you.

It would be my greatest pleasure.

I sincerely appreciate your selfless effort and genuine reply to my question.

      Again, thank you so much.

      Sincerely,
      Alan

        Hello Alan,

I think that you just answered your own question. If your expertise is copywriting, maybe you may want to create a product around that and especially if you can share some success stories. Copywriting is always a hot topic and one that many people struggle with. Therefore, you may create a course or am ebook like "Kick ass copywriting for the online entrepreneur". This is just an example to make my point, as you can see there is also a target audience (in my example is online entrepreneur) that is something that you will need to define very early in the process. Make sure that you do some keyword research to see the search volume of the need that you are trying to fill. Ultimately, it comes down to creating real value for the audience, so I invite to modify your question a bit and ask yourself "What skill / expertise do I have that can help others either solve problems, save time, make/save money and accelerate their goal achievement process?" Another way to ask the same question is: "What kind of advice / help, do people come to me often for?" And if you really want to kick ass make sure that you create something that not only you know well but that you love doing and are passionate about. Make sure that your guiding principle is the maximization of value for your target audience.

I hope that this helps you in your journey and I wish you the best of luck and success!!

buy a few products and learn how they structure it. Instead of asking here and get a bunch of different directions and possibly risking going into information overload, learn from what's proven to be working.
