The Power of Social Media
Hey Guys,
A friend of mine was speaking at a social media seminar yesterday at his office. He had a really good example that effectively caught everyone in the rooms attention and I just wanted to share it.
What he did:
Obviously everyone in the seminar room had a telephone, and he said,
I want to show you the power of social media. Let's say you really like a company and want to spread the news of your experience to everyone in this room. There are 50 people here, and I'm going to give a sentence to this man (got sitting in the first row), and he is going to share the sentence to you, and then you, and then you.
Ready Go!
While they tried to do it in rather rapidly, my friend posted the sentence on Twitter --> which linked to his blog --> which link to his mailing list --> which had everyone in the rooms phone number --> which sent out a text to everyone in the room and had the sentence in it.
While people were talking you heard 5-6 phones go off, people looking at their texts, you heard vibrating, it was quite funny actually. People started to laugh because they just finished the first row and everyone received his message.

I think this is a great eye opener on how fast we can move information these days, and how powerful social media and technology can become.
