To All Micro Niche Finder Users : Exact Phrase Count vs. SOC

Dear Warriors,

which one is the most important part in order doing keyword research using Micro Niche Finder software? is it Exact Phrase Count or SOC?

let's say I have search result :

1. Exact Phrase Count : 558,000; SOC : 24 (GREEN LIGHT)
2. Exact Phrase COunt : 202,000; SOC : 10 (GREEN LIGHT)
3. Exact Phrase COunt : 34,600; SOC : 63 (YELLOW LIGHT)
4. Exact Phrase COunt : 2,030; SOC : 3 (GREEN LIGHT)
5. Exact Phrase COunt : 55,400; SOC : 0 (GREEN LIGHT)

which keywords you choose based on that data?

    Should be SOC. That is measuring more the difficulty of ranking for the term vs how many other people happen to show up for it. The exact phrase count was always just a shot in the dark in terms of ranking difficulty using the assumption that more competing pages = more competition. This isn't always true, of course, as there might be lots of pages that have it but no one optimising for it. The SOC is attempting to measure optimisation of those pages, which is what really matters.

    From another perspective, exact phrase count would be more useful if you just wanted to ran 'near the top', rather than 'at the top' which is what we generally want.

    Depends...what is your skill level?

    The green light means that you should be able to rank without a ton of work so what I would look for is a decent search volume that indicates a buyer is behind the search (ie product name, product name review, how to make my ex stop calling me etc)

    Ok...the last one was a bit of a joke...but a how to search is profitable although I have done better with product names etc

    The best advice I can give you is to just pick a good keyword and get going without too much analyzing.

    This will give you a FEEL for things that the keyword tools won't give you and soon you can glance at page 1 and see if you can rank for your keyword or not...and that comes with exp...although a lot less than you would think

    Case in point, just about all of my sites are ranking for keywords that MNF told me to avoid like the plague

    Well I would want to know 2 other things, mainly the search count because MNF has a lot of green lights for search volumes that are simply not worth the chase.

    Also, (and this is where Market Samurai surpasses MNF) are the on and off page SEO factors of your competition.

    anyone knows a guide "how to use the adavantage of both apps?"

    sometimes i find a nice keyword in MNF but the seo competition in Market Samurai tells another story.

    i don't think that a low SOC MNF numer is no 100% bet that you will make money with that page or? )of course with serious white hat backlinking and unique article writing)

    +1 on keekn's comments above. I have MNF and MS and find MS to be a very deep and useful tool. MNF seems to be too shallow in my 'feeling' and still not sure it is worth the time. Bought both thinking different views would help analysis but it seems to cause more confusion and wasted time.

    Opposite to keekn, I have a very clear MNF RED warning for one keyword that is not so in MS and Google AdWords. There is no really convincing explanation of the MNF indicators and I feel giving up on the REDs is throwing away a good niche sometimes.

    Maybe MNF is for those who want a quick decision. But my short experience (several weeks) has taught me that keyword research should not be rushed. Anyone agree?

    All you have to do to get past the google block is remove the individual cookie from google, then you can proceed with your searches, I have done this many times and it always works.
