Hello,

I wanted to know if anyone ran a news site with adsense ads.

If so, how long have you had it and how long did it take to make $500-$1000 a month.

Thanks!

You must develop your site in 6 months at least. Content must have useful for readers, after then your site have more traffic and finally you have money.

Knowing how long it took is irrelevant unless you also know details of a project's investment, expertise, positioning and business plan. An ill-thought-out news site could be up for years and still make diddly.

Adsense is a tough way to make more than a few bucks until you get seriously targeted, high volume traffic to your blog.

Also, even if someone says it took them 6 months to 1K a month Adsense earnings, they are likely doing 14,000 different things, from a different energy than you. Almost like a guy with 20-20 vision telling a blind man it's easy to see the tree 1000 yards away

Create products. Create services. Related to news. Create something useful. That's where the 1K a month profits lie after you build up your blog through commenting, guest posting and sharing helpful news-themed posts on your blog.

You can traffic the site carefully if you know how to do it. Accordingly, the income from AdSense will grow. It's not the most important thing.

It seems that many "News" sites are moving away from adsense in favor of native ads

It took me about 5 months, but it all depends on the theme of the site.

My first news site took a long time to make money.

Now we make them for fun and they're profitable within a few days of going live - but that's only because there's around 15 years experience condensed and squashed down into a few hours worth of work.

Look beyond Adsense, if your site gets traction you'll be invited into higher paying networks.

    My advice:

Create an avatar - know exactly who you're talking to. Know the things they support, the things they hate.

Know where they stand on each issue.

Are they pro-choice? Are they anti-gun? Etc etc.

Choose a side of each debate, and stick to it. Make your site aimed specifically for those people and nobody else.

And don't get bogged down into producing articles - get other people to do that for you.
