What's with these popups I'm seeing everywhere?

Anyone else noticed the Push Crew popups appearing like a virus on people's sites and blogs?

OK, I know they aren't a virus (of course) but they are threatening to act like one. Here's a message I've just seen (and it's typical of most)...

"Get Notified When New Posts Are Made Or New Sites Are Launched
Get a push notification right in your browser when we release something new."

Now why in heck would I want that?

I don't want notifications appearing in my browser thank you. I've enough of those to contend with already. I seem to spend half my time closing popups and tabs which have magically opened telling me I can make my fortune with Bitcoin or Forex.

Yes, I've seen the stats for popup email squeeze pages - I know they're supposed to work. But these Push Crew popups are popping up everywhere and I'd like to see whether anyone's actually responding with an 'Allow'

Waddya all think?

Push notifications are not pop-ups. They are little messages that appear on your screen whenever a site you are following posts something new or has a webinar starting, etc.

I actually love them. I sign up for them on sites and blogs that I follow so that I can get a notification when they have just published a post or have some other message to send.

I belong to a membership site that I also promote and they always have training webinars that teach new ways to promote, etc. I love getting the notification about 10 minutes before they start a webinar because the webinars are actually fun and I like attending them. So, if I happen to be sitting at my computer, it's convenient to get a notice that one is about to start so I can join it.

Think about the power that gives the folks actually running the webinars? If I feel that way, I'm sure many others do. Their webinars are almost always packed, so obviously they are working for them.

People are also getting fantastic response rates with them. Many people claim to be getting much higher response rates than email marketing with them.

If you have a blog, website, membership site, etc, and you are not taking advantage of push notifications you are definitely missing the boat.

Along with FB Messenger, they are poised to be one of the notification systems that compete with email in the near future as a means of contacting people.

    Thanks nicheblogger75

I deliberately made this slightly provocative because I wanted to see what other people thought. I'm glad you find them useful and you tell me people are getting fantastic results from them.

I think it's a bit like squeeze pages. Unless you can actually promise me something that I value in return for my involvement (email address), I'm not going to respond.

I have, actually, responded with 'Allow' to one blogger's Push notification (yes, it's not a popup, but it seems like one). That's because it didn't use the standard text that I highlighted in my original post, but promised something that I actually wanted.

That's the key, isn't it? I mean how many sites do you see which still use the words 'subscribe for updates' on their squeeze requests? So why are we seeing these in Push notification requests?

Well, I believe push notifications really help boost your list building campaigns, increases subscribers outreach and develop more trust.

In my case, I have an opt-in box on the sidebar but someone rarely subscribes there. But the moment I placed push notification on the website, the opt-in rate has increased by 600%. Also, I am able to reach my subscribers right on their browsers increasing click through rate, which was rather low in case of autoresponder emails.

So, people are liking it at the moment. Maybe in coming months, there are lesser subscriptions since almost every site now has started asking for the permission to send notifications.
