My Blog's Worth..Can I sell it for that amount?

Hi, the other day I found a site that can show you your blog's worth. I was curious on how much my blog was worth. The value was said to be $1,231.50...and the site is only a month old! I dont know if that's excellent or not,but it seemed pretty good to me. If the value checker showed that price for my blog, does that mean I can try and sell it for that much? Or does is not work like that? I'm not trying to sell my precious blog yet, but I figured if it's only a month old then by a year...and the year after that....well you get the point!

Those valuation sites are for entertainment only. You will never sell it for anything close to that amount.

I have to say you might be wrong on that. The site I checked mine on is %100 real. There might be some that are fony though, but I know for sure not this one.

You'll never get a true valuation from these types of sites, as this poster said they are for entertainment value only.

There are many variations involved in selling a site such as how much its making, visitors etc, this can't possibly be done in an instant by some online software.

And as (I think it was Danny) said, it's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it anyway.

Try to sell the site for $1,200 - I doubt it will happen though... Those sites have no idea about how much money you're blog is making or how much traffic you're actually getting (which is the main premise any buyer would base the value on) so their 'blog worth meter' isn't worth much...

There are a lot of factors that buyers take into consideration when buying a blog.

The number one thing is that a site can be worth a lot more to one person than it is to another...

...a tool like that can't take into consideration whever someone already has a business they can plug your site in to.

...a tool like that can't measure how much you're making and the ROI.

People mainly buy sites on revenue - just like they would buy a business.

Sure, site's with PR have their value because of link building - but again those links are worth much more to one than they are to others.

I find it funny my parants told us the house is worth £500,000 yet I think its only worth what it sells for.

I have sites that are worth a lot to me but to someone else they are not worth anything!

There are loads of sites that give you site value but I think its all BS times your month income by 10 then thats about how much its worth (simple rule of thumb)

I'd find it very unlikely that you could sell your blog for that amount. I know that I checked the same thing recently and my blog was worth about $2,500 or something like that.

But I didn't look at it and say cool, I can get x amount for this but I will be using it as another motivating tool for myself to keep going. If I can check my web worth in another month or two and it is then worth $5,000 then obviously I am going in the right direction.

Same as your Alexa ranking. Good for measuring your progress.

People do get attached to numbers as determiners of something's worth, regardless of whether anyone will actually pay that or not.

for example, if you ever look at buying a second hand PC, you'll notice that sellers rarely figure in what's happened to the PC in the months since they've bought it, the fact you're buying it without warranty, wear and tear, depreciation, and feature creep on the new systems... In reality, a 12-month old PC is lucky if it's worth 50% of the original price.

Blog values are at least as difficult to pin down. So don't put any merit on these entertainment values, they're absolutely worth the paper they're written on... oh... what paper was that?
