I know this has been probably covered a lot but...How do I launch an affiliate program?

I have a website that I have created an affiliate program so I can generate links for affiliates to track sales when they send me referrals in exchange for a commission on every sale.

How do I get this offer in front of niche specific affiliate marketers?

Also I currently have my offer at 15% commission on every sale with a lifetime cookie, so affiliate marketers, can make commission of every sale they send me tracked by their personal link, for life.

My questions are:

1. what are the best practices on launching and promoting a program like this?
2. what are the best resources for doing this kind of thing? (i.e. websites, affiliate programs like clickbank, or joint venture sites, niche specific affiliate lists, etc.)
3. Is paypal masspay an effective and reliable way to pay my affiliates?
4. what advice would you give to someone who has never done this before and is trying to do it correctly the first time?

Thank you very much, in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

  • To track the sale for each customer "Bitrix24" software is good, and you can use this software for free (free version is 12 sales agents and 5 GB of online storage) for limited period of time. PayPal is the best option to pay the commission to the affiliates.

You didn't mention if your product is a physical product or digital product. 15% probably won't be very interesting to affiliates that normally market digital products. Of course, it also depends on your selling price, funnel and EPC.

Do you have marketing material like banners and emails for your affiliates to use? You can directly contact website and forum owners with sites in your niche to see if they want to join your affiliate program.

I have banners and am working on a sales promo video. it's physical products. I am willing to create the necessary materials I need to provide to my affiliates, first. I guess the reason I posted this post was to find out what kind of support i need to provide to my affiliates to be successful, as well as how to get my offer in front of niche affiliates. I am flexible on the commission and willing to go as higher, but I would like to know what kind of commission is standard for a store selling clothing and fashion based products? Like for instance your name Ace of Shirts implies you sell clothing, how much of a commission are you offering your affiliates? How long is your cookie? I am kind of sticking to the life time cookie because I want to build lasting quality relationships with my affiliates but if 15% is crappy I am willing to make it better to make my affiliates happy so they hustle for me.
Thank you very much for the suggestions. Contacting site owners is a great idea.

The only problem with increasing the commission means my margin gets slimmer but I am all about making a little bit a lot of times, over making more each sale but making way less sales...

Work on your affiliate commission first. 15% is too little and I don't think people will be interested, unless you are selling high ticket offer. Usually at least 60% or above will be better.

I truly appreciate your input but it would kill my margin to offer 60%. What kind of commission structures have you seen for stores selling fashion products & clothing? Realistically the most I could go is 25%, but a life time cookie, and repeat purchases (hopefully) as fashion is always evolving...and customers will be repeat buyers if my store is successful in offering first rate customer service, which I am really dedicated to providing.
