How do I set up affiliate marketing programs?

I want to set up local businesses with some sort of affiliate marketing program. My problem is I don't even know what questions to ask. I assume this can be done and I'll gladly do my homework. So search terms?

  • Before promoting any affiliate product create a stylish URL link using
"pretty link" plugin and promote in top tier network like Bing, Facebook ads etc.

I appreciate the replies so far, but I guess I'm not communicating my need and the replies haven't completely answered my question.

There are several local brick and mortar businesses that would benefit from affiliate marketing and I would like to get them set up. I'm assuming there are platforms out there that I can use to track sales and referrals from other marketers as well as my own.

I think you would have been better off putting the thread in the off line section where you would get much better answers from some very good experts

Just click the the little red triangle on the bottom left and post to the mods to move it there

Do your local merchants have an online shopping cart? Or even an online catalog?

Are you expecting the customers to be local people or are you expecting to ship the products across the country or world?

For affiliate programs to work you need a way to track the referral, normally a cookie. Where are the customers going to pay for the product? Online or at the actual store? If online then there is plenty of software that will do it. If they are going to pay at the store you will need something like a coupon code for tracking it back to the referrer.

If you do not know what is the question to ask here, how you will get the suggestion? To get a good answer from the expert, you have to ask real question.

I don't think local businesses have a need or want for any Affiliate programs.

Most small local businesses need a way to advertise to the public via Internet Marketing.

If you can solve your targeted market (which seems like local businesses) problems, then you may consider gaining skills in the local traffic and lead generation services.

Solutions to your target markets problems that you bottle up in a value based service is what makes income.
