Hi all,
Iam fresher in Digital Marketing. I have just completed my Internship in Digital Marketing, where my job was to on-page SEO of the website. I had not much to do. Now as iam looking for full time job, what should I start with SEO, SMM or SEM?
Which ones get paid better?

I run a social media company and a SEO company.... If you know what your doing and provide an in demand service, you can make a lot from any of those. However, providing top quality work, service and communication is vital

I chose SEM just because I like the immediacy of getting leads today vs waiting for possibly months to get traffic to your website.

SMM and SEM both are mostly same works based on paid advertisement. One is for targeting social media audience and one is for targeting google audience.

SEO is also good but it will take to give effect to your business but it is effective because it will help to improve brand popularity too.

If you will first start with SEO then your basic fundamentals will clear.

I read a similar article. While I wouldn't go so far as saying SEO is dying, the days of using an assortment of tricks and loopholes to rank pages are definitely over.

Google tweaks their algo 5-600 times per year, mostly looking to improve search results at the expense of "SEOs" looking to game the system.

In my opinion, SEO will be a bit like economics - you mat be able to go an entire career without ever being right about anything. You'll just have to do a good job explaining why you were wrong.

If I were just starting out, looking to get on a career path, I'd pick something like SEM or SMM, bringing leads in the door and ringing the register. If you're good at your job, you will get paid. Either by your current employer or another who wants what you can provide.

And should you choose to later go out on your own, it gives you a track record potential clients can understand. "First page of Google" doesn't pay the bills; 21% increase in leads or 12% increase in sales does.

SEO is not dying but day by day as per google updates it is becoming more complex. So you should keep your eye on latest google updates.

career? if only you know nothing and someone is willing to training you from day 1

my suggestion if you are already an expert either in seo or sem, start your own business, better than work for someone else, plus go straight into sem, here you will earn the profit more faster

I do pay per call lead generation (using SEO) and honestly I'm VERY happy with that choice.

It's extremely passive and I don't have clients telling me what to do (or demanding things).

I wanted something that I could use to make money from anywhere in the world because at the time I was planning on moving with my wife to Denmark.

If you learn SEO and master it, you can make really good money.

That said, if you learn paid traffic and master it, you will make GREAT money.

You need a strong foundation and a hell of a budget (that you're willing to run through for testing) for paid traffic.

It's totally up to you though and I agree with the comment above about looking for something that you have an affinity for first and then try to tie it into SEO, SEM, Email marketing etc.

One piece of advice I do have though is whatever you choose to do, as long as it's a viable option and people are making money at it....don't fall into the habit of jumping from this project to that project to the next.

This is a sure recipe for disaster and will not give you enough time in any ONE find to really grind it out and become successful.

    Hope that helps.

I completely agree with Cuso advice, particularly this part [ One piece of advice I do have though is whatever you choose to do, as long as it's a viable option and people are making money at it....don't fall into the habit of jumping from this project to that project to the next.]

Don't jump from one project to another without making it work. This is main reason of 90% people fail in IM....
