How to Create Top Quality Bonus Content

Hi,

Im working on my first affiliate campaign and want to offer my customers some bonus content. I'd like to know what you have had success with.

Is your bonus content in video form or an ebook? How do you deliver the content to customers? Do you make your own content or is there somewhere else you go? Is there any other advise or tips you would be able to offer me?

Thank You

    I'd have success with:

    - blog posts
    - eBooks
    - videos
    - podcasts
    - every form of content

but only because the content solved people's blogging problems, which is exactly what they wanted. The medium didn't matter; the quality and clarity I delivered through each channel, tailored for my readers, brought me success.

Also, practicing creating content through each channel. The big difference maker. By developing my skills over years, people bought in to me, my content and my message.

Dive in and create I know it feels uncomfortable at first. Scary even. But by habitually deciding to create content daily, and by holding that intent, I became a wee bit of a content creating machine. Bonus stuff, free stuff, premium stuff. Dive in once you have those reader or customer probs in mind, create content-solutions and as you hone your creative skills, creating becomes easier.

I enjoy reading and don't enjoy videos. So I always appreciate it when there is an option for a transcript of a video.

Define your target audience and then find out what they want to know. Picture one person in your mind and then sit down and write to him. (or dictate or record a video).

If you aren't comfortable writing there are many good ghostwriters on this forum (present company included). But the more you do it the easier it will become. If it's helpful, it doesn't need to be perfect.

Some bonus content that has done well for us....

    1. Checklists or Action Plans associated with outcome highly desired...people like that they are short, usable and aimed directly at an outcome they desire

    2. "Insider's" content such as an interview, seminar (even if just snippet) or private webinar that you make public JUST for subscribers

    3. Something with personal touch such as opt-in to webinar, group coaching, private facebook groups, etc... that gives them access to something you have done & can perhaps even ask a question or interact with you

Great add because checklists are gold. Using simple bullet points in a post works really well, let alone creating a check list, or action plan. I dig receiving step by step instruction, and checklists make it easy for me to visualize the steps, and to follow the steps.

These are all some great suggestions that I am looking forward to putting action to. My next question is what is the best way to deliver the content? Do you like to give it away to people who sign up to your mailing list? Or do you prefer to give it to those who purchase the product? If so what is the best way to deliver it to the customer?

      Prospect or buyer?

      Both, but different.

For example, prospects might get a Buyers Guide while buyers might get a Quick Start Guide for the specific product.

      Best way to deliver it?

Depends on the market and the product. In general, though, I prefer digital downloads.

I recently subscribed to a group that provided the bonus materials in three formats:

      > Online video behind a passworded wall
      > PDF transcript
      > Combo of the audio (mp3) and slide deck (PDF)

The point isn't that you have to do something like this; the point is that you make the content available to people in a way that they will consume it.

This is some helpful information that is really starting to get me thinking. I appreciate the feedback, as you are getting my gears turning.

Essentially I need to decide at what stage in the funnel they are going to get the bonus. I was originally thinking about providing it to a customer after they purchase the product. I didn't know what method to do this and make it automatically provided.

I know a lot of Marketers go by the Rule that if your Product is PDF then your Bonus should also be that. Same as if they bought a video course from you then the bonus should be a video.

Personally, I do not always go by this. And will mix it up as it really depends on the audience

I typically use ebooks, and deliver it by auto responder

Do you have a favorite autoresponder? I am not set up with one right now but I was using Aweber in the past. I'm guessing they have this feature available.

That's what I use for most of my digital products - trigger an aweber email after confirmation of a sale from Ejunkie or direct via Paypal
