I put 1-2 affiliate links in my article.

Which method is better to open affiliate links?

1) Opens the affiliate links in a new window or tab.

2) Opens the affiliate links in the same window or tab as it was clicked.

Second option will be better. Because new window tab appears as a popup to viewers. 80% of all viewers don't like leaving website due to this.
I call it pop up franic. Hope this helps.

I prefer to use option 1. Open links in anew window or tab. It will help you to keep the bounce rate of your site low. In addition to it, make your affiliate links nofollow attribute.

Open the affliate links in new Window is one of the best option, this will reduce the bounce rate of your website.

Allowing the affiliate link to open in another tab will increase the bounce rate of your website. If you're okay with bounce rate and want your customers to stay back to your site then you can move with the first option. My personal suggestion and point of view support the first option "Opens the affiliate links in a new window or tab."

The only way you are going to know for sure is by doing the old fashion way!

Split testing like A/B and once you have the stats you will know , not by numerous people on a marketing forum commenting on what they would do

In this post I will share some of my experiences in this regard, and you can decide which is right for you: AdSense or affiliate marketing.

I always use the first option. It is not, as someone mentioned, a popup, it is a new tab. Remember by opening in a new tab or window you are also keeping that person on your site.

This a very tricky question yet an important one. I think the 2nd options is better for UX. Your lead and the landing page will be face to face and your affiliate site will be out of the picture totally.

    It depends on the situation.

In a multiple choice, open in a new tab.

If buy now or sign-up, I want them to forget all about my site, so same window.

Why on earth is bounce rate a factor?

Why are you making them nofollow? You don't trust the site you're sending them to? If that's the case, don't send them to that site, find a site you trust to send them to.
