When it comes to marketing online there is so much information that most new marketers get Paralysis by Analysis.

So I though it would be helpful it some of the more experienced marketers could chime in and share one of their primary marketing strategies and explain briefly how they make it work for them.

Please make sure to mention the niche you implement your strategy in and the main traffic or lead generation source that make your method profitable.

I'm hoping this thread provides new marketers with strategies they can focus on and get some traction.

Note to the newbies...Pick one of the methods mentioned here and master it before going one to the next great thing. Also reach out to the member who idea you liked best and get more clarity and instruction from them. I'm sure they will be happy to assit in any way they can.

Because it consistently produces solid results, year after year.

    • That's great and of course it is the #1 income producers online. But what would you share with the newer marketer that is looking for advice on email marketing?

What email autoresponder system do you use?
What other tools if any help you capture leads?

      All that good stuff...
  • Email Marketing.

Been doing it for over 16 years and no reason to fix what's not broke.

    As to your other questions...

I acquire fresh / target 3rd party data, which is email data of users that have shown an interest in a specific vertical (niche) and provided per mission to receive messages from third parties. I get the opt-in record of all users and it's 100% can-spam compliant.

The promote PPL (pay per lead...lead generation) offers relevant to the vertical they have shown an interest in. This is because there is no purchase / credit card required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a short form, so conversion rates are typically much higher compared to offers that require a sale to be made.

So if I'm getting life insurance data, I send a life insurance PPL offer. If I'm getting education data, I send an education PPL offer. etc...

Of course, I'm over simplifying it to keep it short, as there is much more that goes into it.

    • This kind of targeted E Mail marketing can give good results. But the issue is getting targeted data of people who have shown an interest in a specific product or niche.
    • I've always wondered about how people do this. Do you work for an affiliate agency or do you contract this work for yourself? I've been working at a digital marketing agency for a few years and want to do some work independently. Also, which platform do you use to run your campaigns? They have us using MailChimp here.
  • [Please make sure to mention the niche you implement your strategy in and the main traffic or lead generation source that make your method profitable.]

    • This is supposed to be sharing of basic info to help newbies out. Of course a skilled marketer can talk about their niche without any negative impact. Telling someone for example they make good money in the Dog niche and then suggesting a strategy that works has no down side.

Online marketing is the only space where 2 competitors can JV on a project and share data and double their business.

That is the entire foundation of affiliate marketing...lol

  • Social Media, specifically Facebook. At the moment, this platform is the one we need. It seems everyday , it is becoming better and better. From its algorithm, battling for fake contents and users, improvements on advertising and stricter ads moderation. Facebook family is poised to make an impact in the field of eCommerce. The mergers and acquisitions of other websites are growing.

  • How many ways can this same question be asked?

The ONLY marketing method that will work (for you) is the one that is a best match for you and your abilities etc duh!

Mr Guru SuperAff may have struck it rich online (Trillionaire now) and guess how he did it?

    Solo Ads.

Now does this mean that everyone will become rich with Solo Ads?

Ignorantly assuming every marketing method works for everyone...is like Homer Simpson trying to become a rocket scientist (because he heard it was 'profitable'):

Doesn't this look (and sound) crazy?

    • All experienced marketers are using FB ads as part of their paid media strategy. Paid media is certainly profitable when you have the skills required to pull it off. But the truth about buy any type of traffic is there is a huge financial learning curve. Meaning you will spend anywhere between $5,000 - $20,000 just to learn enough to get some profits back.

Most new marketers are drawn to online marketing looking for additional income because of necessity and they do not have the kind of budget to run successful paid marketing campaigns

  • I am in the MMO niche and I use two forms of marketing the most. Social media(mostly Facebook) and email marketing.

I typically use the social media to drive traffic to my squeeze pages so it is no cost there and then they sign up to my squeeze page and on my list. I then market to them through my list.

  • For the industries I operate in and the audience it would be webinars.

In the IM/MMO world the webinar is something that works but has nowhere near the power in other traditional/non IM/MMO markets.

People don't expect, anticipate or need big build-ups, guru name dropping and fake screenshots and this makes it less stressful and easier to use as a key marketing method.

  • Direct Marketing Method, with email Marketing.

The newbies can research The Direct Marketing Method , and discover where most Internet marketing Gurus get their most powerful marketing strategies from, that has created more millionaires offline and online with the lowest startup cost.

Almost all The big network marketing companies and Internet marketing Gurus use the direct marketing method (Which includes a sequence of hypnotic well written copy) to recruit affiliates and subscribers online and offline.

Using the direct marketing method, you position yourself as the expert and mini celebrity in your niche of choice and you create and produce all the information products and services you promote.

I like that he also mentioned that not all business would have the same success with all platforms. Explaining that Fashion business would be better suited to focus on Pinerest and other visual social media platforms.
  • Email Marketing... FaceBook, YouTube, LinkedIn, InstaGram, SEO, etc... are all great too, but as means to build the email list which is the real lasting asset!
  • List building !!!

email marketing, huge number followers on instagram, huge number fans on fb or everything, all are about list building.

Huge targeted database can solve the problem

  • I have a private network leveraging now over 40 million active buyers in dozens of hotly competitive niches. I use this method almost exclusively. It actually predates the internet and was often mentioned in the forum. Yet, this marketing method (and the corresponding niches) are still barely even tapped.

Here's a general list (no particular order) of a few of my favorite marketing arenas and hottest niches using this method, which has not really changed much at all over the years:

economics, health, medical, pharmaceuticals, diet and fitness, recipes, financial, real estate, technology, biotechnology, genetics, energy, art, fashion, jewelry, literature, architecture, engineering, history, ancient civilization, hobbies, biography, sociology, education, religion, philosophy, politics, criminology, security, sports, travel, aircraft, space exploration, agriculture, chemistry, physics, astronomy, cosmology, psychology, zoology, ecology, biology, archaeology, geology, oceanography, climatology, meteorology, mythology, occult, astrology, conspiracies, UFOs, end of the world catastrophes.

    • Thanks I appreciate your took the time to give a great example.
  • Email marketing in a variety of niches, with emphasis on the Boomer market. That's about as specific as I'll get. I don't mind sharing, but with as many members as there are here, too often the "sharing" goes well beyond information.

As for advice, keep it simple, at least to start with. If you have a technical leaning, you can use self-hosted email scripts, especially with the relatively small lists most beginners have. Otherwise, pick one of the popular ESPs and get started. You don't need an email funnel that looks like a mulberry bush, with multiple channels and branches and rabbit holes.

Start with one product and learn how to sell it. Learn how to attract traffic (you can't actually "drive" anybody anywhere). Learn how to push their buttons so they subscribe.

Don't be afraid of finding ways that don't work for you. If your situation is so desperate that you can't afford to fail, step back and find some other form of honest work, then come back to it. They say that dogs can smell fear. Well, so can prospects online.

If you have a tight budget, good. Dole it out like it hurts, and when something does work, reinvest the spoils. It's called "bootstrapping".

Always remember that, at its core, business is an exchange of value. If one side gets all the value, it's not business, it's robbery. If the customer doesn't get value that you promise in your offer, you've stolen from your customer. If you give everything away, so that the customer gets all the value, you've stolen from yourself.

  • Writing blog, building personal branding
  • One way of building an income that doesn't cost much is selling digital services, like writing, graphics, video creation, etc. If you can't offer any services personally, you can sell other peoples' services (sometimes called "arbitrage", but you're basically acting like an agency). I've done this with SourceMarket (now branded as Konker.io) - for instance selling logos for $45 which I get created on Fiverr for about $15.
    • [2] replies
    • Just redirect to the offer/sales page. And yes... I did direct advertising in the video as well (at least explain people where they should go). Video marketing is the best approach now and beyond. See...

      Agree!
    • Cold telephone calling, hands down. It's the fastest practical way to learn sales and marketing.
  • I think we can use white hat SEO for marketing strategies, as in SEO there are different kinds of modules which enhances the traffic of the website. As the organic traffic and clicks increases of that particular website. The website may get popular.
  • Without a doubt - organic traffic.

I'd spend all my marketing budget on writing high quality content, that provides value to the reader, and is better than all top 10 results that are already in Google.

I'd ensure all my content was optimized with meta titles and meta descriptions, and supplemented with unique images with alt tags.
  • I would choose social marketing. Because people are always in the virtual world. In the social media, everything gets viral very fast, communication is good and people are always looking for new things there.
  • Mobile Marketing:

I am a great fun of email marketing and I do not think it's going anywhere soon. However, these are some of the reasons why we should take mobile marketing serious.

    I am leaning towards mobile marketing as my primary choice and here is why? Check these statistics out ;

    - Mobile is providing most new data. We are at that point now.
    - Mobile devices are the newsletter source for 33% of email subscribers.
    - Between 60% and 65% of users will not return to a mobile site after a bad experience but 40% will return to a competitors site.
    (Ref: MicKinsey & Company,TechCrunch, Informz)
    - Last but not the least, 84% of mobile ads managers believe they are offering enviable experience.

Let's continue to share our thoughts on the importance of which marketing tool to employ. However, Don't ignore mobile ads component for our marketing needs.

Social media, namely Instagram. At this time, this platform is the one we need. It seems every day, it is becoming better and better. • Video marketing for me, I have tried everything over 25 years and video marketing works every time i make the videos, rank them and my customers very happy with a visual advert that brings them leads/clients and they can show their friends.
  • For now I have to say Fb ads. I'm getting penny on clicks so yeah works good so far for me.
  • [DELETED]
  • For me, without question it'd be email marketing, and this is why:

Yes, Facebook ads produce amazing results, yes Google adwords is still amazing if you can afford to profit more than you spend, and yes, Instagram ads are also amazing,

But that all is traffic you don't own. You're always subject to an algorithm change, or just at the mercy of the platform you're using.

So because of that, without a doubt it'd be email marketing for me, because that IS traffic I own and control and can do whatever I want with so long as I nurture those leads and maintain the relationship.

Sure there's the possibility of something going wrong with the autoresponder company but you can always just download your entire list in CSV and keep it on hand if you need to go to another autoresponder.

By far, email give you the most control out of any traffic method IMO

  • CURIOSITY!

boom!! This is the trick to marketing and having a good hook.

After that, list building and email marketing. 85% of all my sales come from doing that. SO its sooper dooper powerful, when done the right way and you have highly targeted leads coming in.
  • It would be Email Marketing. Definitely.

Here are some of my personal reasons:
    1) The main reason: You KEEP the database of your customers (followers or subscribers) FOREVER, so you won't depend on any intermediary who could ban you.
    2) It allows you to keep the communication along the way, and to improve your relationship with your followers
    3) It allows you to test different type of messages (sales physical or information products, test promotions, content, surveys, personal information, etc)
    4) It works like magic when you combine it with other communication tools like social networks.
  • Every business is unique so I don't think every marketing model fits for all.

If there was one we had to choose over all the rest than it would probably be social media as it is growing really fast each day.

    • great answer, probably teh best thing a newbie would read in here today.

My business quadrupled when I started utlizing email marketing.

FUNNELS ....yes its all about the funnels right now that is all the rave..... well....ok.... it was never a rave, it was always about teh funnel, but funnel and the term have sort of gone mainstream.

Waking up to sales in your email inbox never gets old. SInce the start of my career, I would suggest this feeling is basically even more addictive, knowing that I actually did the right things and took teh right measures to make it happen.

The job these days is just to test optins, and rates, and traffic sources. But once as a marketer you start to realise how powerful email marketing is, and lead generation each day, the heavens open up for you. :-)

      Hope this helps.

  • Lead Generation Ideas
    • product explainer videos can generate leads at a rate of up to 33%. When done right, videos keep us engaged and can inspire us to take action.
    • blogging is effective for generating leads.
    • Promote your tweets
    • Answer questions on Quora
  • pay per click , like reddit ads or googleads
  • frankandres,

There are so many avenues for marketing! The important thing for newbies is pick one free method and pick one paid method and master them before adding to your marketing toolbox.

I would start with something that you have some experience in and have an existing audience (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc) and build from there.

One easy paid method to start with is solo ads, this is a great way for someone who is brand new to "rent" and existing marketers list that not only helps you build your email list, but also with hopefully get you some sales quickly.
  • It Depends
If you are in B2C business then I prepare Digital Marketing
If you are in B2B business then Email Marketing is the best way to generate leads.
Purchase Email List from Reputed company to reach decision makers and increase ROI.

    Cheers
  • YouTube.
I like, no... I love making youtube videos. It's quite simple. Just a talking head.
    Works not that bad.
I believe more and more people will "switch" from reading to watching. So, even though, YouTube was created over 10 years ago, it still is a hot trend for online marketing purposes.
  • Choosing one marketing method can be difficult as there are several marketing strategies that are effective and it depends on the objective of the marketing. For instance, I learnt through R and D that one method that actually worked for me was building a strong social presence. It helped me to meet the objective to reach potential clients and build a loyal customers base.
Today, even start-ups have brilliant websites and effective social media presence. This method familiarises your potential customer about your services. For instance, if you are thinking and searching about IT solutions in The UK, ACS 365 (https://www.acs365.co.uk/it-solutions) is the one firm that will come to your mind as well on Google list because you have read about their services on several social media platforms. In fact, an outsourcing company can trace their activities to promote business. So, if you have the similar Objective, this marketing strategy is highly recommended.
  • Solving my reader's problems.

Guest posting, list building, and all that jazz only works if you provide value that solves your reader or potential customer problems. The value is in the solution, not so much the stream. Because even though email marketing rocks, you will find many top bloggers who build thriving businesses without a list, or, with a smallish list.

I do A-OK and place little emphasis on list building. But I do solve reader problems through many channels online, including guest posting, posting to my blog, and through live broadcasts on multiple sites too.
  • Online marketing is the only space where 2 competitors can JV on a project and share data and double their business
  • For me it is blogging.

I say this because as your blog grows and brings in more and more traffic it gives you many options.

You can build a list from the traffic you are getting, you can sell affiliate products or your own product and you can even sell advertising space.

    Hope this helps.
  • I would say the most effective Marketing you can buy is Pay Per Click with the right keywords it is a gold mine.
  • Using social media influencers is an increasingly popular way to market your business. There is so much power in someone else recommending your brand to their followers or friends. It's like word-of-mouth on steroids.
  • It would depend on my goal and my niche but it would probably be either PPC or SEO.
  • Using PPC or SEO are both efficient and depends on the individual entrepreneur, their experience and how long they have been in the industry.

Again, for a newbie specific, you will be better of starting with the effective old fashion way 'email marketing' to build you a basic list to start with.

Then, gradually progress into PPC, SEO and or mobile advertising which is growing by the day.
  • [DELETED]
  • In B2B SaaS industry, there are many effective lead generation channels that can be implemented.
Some channels to consider are social media, live chat, website visitor tracking tool, cold outbound emails, and paid advertising.
In order to know what works best for you, you should test each channel to determine what's performing well.
    Good luck.
  • Again, as illustrated in my previous narration to a similar question, traditional old fashion email marketing is still King for the newbie or experienced marketer. Today's data continues to show that email marketing and SEO have excellent Return On Investment (ROI) than any other medium.

To choose one avenue, I recommend that you start and grow your business with email marketing. Then look into SEO and PPC and others later..
  • I use a combination of My YouTube Channel and email marketing. It works for me.
