Mic Help!? Cannot record Video because mic no longer registers!?

Hello, I am trying to use Camtasia- and I have a Plantronics headset... and everything has worked fine- until today. (it's not the mic either...lol as the headset works just fine in other programs, like audacity)

For some reason, absolutely no sound from my mic will record into camtasia....

The mic is fine- and It has worked previously with Realtek Audio HD Input... and none of the other drives work either.

I need to make a video- like NOW...because I have something lined up with another warrior, and this needs to be ready... but I can't get this thing to work

Does anyone have any suggestions of what I should do to get my mic to work again?

Thanks!

not sure if i fully understand the whole situation, so take my opinion with a pinch of salt (cuz i'm not really familiar with camtasia yet).

but maybe you could record the video on camtasia and then the audio separately on audacity?

sorry, not sure if this helps. i'm just trying to help you solve the short term issue (which is "I need to make a video- like NOW") since it is urgent.

Well I think this is going slightly off topic, but I was thinking of doing it old school, on some video editting program like Adobe Premier. My assumption was that acrasial could record videos on camtasia but without audio, so I thought perhaps the audio could be recorded on audacity (assuming the mic works too) and then later both the audio and video could be combined in Adobe Premier.

Quite troublesome I guess, but it's an idea.

Oh and acrasial, here is something I do when any particular device in windows conks out...
    1. Either reboot the machine... and/or
    2. Disable and re-enable the mic.

Do you have vista or windows xp? Let me know if this works for you or if you need help.

      In Recording Options

      under "Choose Audio Settings"

is your Audio Device showing your headset or your computer's default audio device?
