How Long Does it Take to Start Making Money from IM?
I have seen SO MANY questions here along those lines. I will try keep this post short because we're all busy warriors. But before I answer that question, let me give you a quick story.
I first got into IM after reading about this guy who was making $50k a month from a new blog that he had just set up. I was in college at the time, broke as hell, and susceptible to anything that could make a quick buck.
If people could actually make that much from blogs...sign me up!
Thankfully I was too broke to afford the guru's course, but the title alone got me. It was something like 'How to make $10k a month from a blog in 30 days or less!'.
Wait what? 10k? 30 days or less? This thing can actually be hacked in a month OR LESS? Perfect.
Long story short, I started a blog, first month went by and I made nothing. Cool, be patient. Second month, still nothing. Third month, fourth..end of the first year. Zero in sales. Then I got really frustrated and gladly gave up the site to a friend..for free. He was no guru, but what he did next was the game changer.
He allocated himself some time to learn all about IM. He was not blinded by money like I was, like many people are. And its not like he had no urgency for it, he just knew that it would distract him from getting good at IM, so he blocked the whole idea for some time.
But was it worth it? Let's see.
In the first 3 months he managed to build up the traffic to twice the numbers I achieved after a whole year.
Again, long story short, but by the eighth month his traffic was on a freefall. ONLY THEN did he finally decide to monetize the site. He made around $800 from ads alone in that month.
A year and a half later, and the same site which I happily gave up was doing over $10k a month! IT TOOK A YEAR AND A HALF TO MAKE $10K A MONTH!
Moral of the story? Do not worry about how long it takes to make money from your blog or affiliate site. I can assure you is that there is money to be made; what determines 'how long it takes' to make it is the amount of time it takes you to become really good at it. How much effort you're willing to put in.
Forget about the money, first get really good at SEO, social media, link building, and every other tactic that drives traffic. Who knows, it might only be a few months for you.
